We have an exciting opportunity for an Accounting & Compliance Manager to support our growing Suburban Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) platform. As the Accounting & Compliance Manager you will play a crucial role in SuburbanRNG's general accounting activities, provide operational and financial oversight, and ensure compliance with government reporting, statutory audits, environmental credit market participation, sales tax regulations, and other accounting requirements. Responsibilities

  • Performs general accounting functions, including oversight of General Ledger activity, financial analysis, reconciliations, journal entries, month-end closing activities, and audit compliance for all balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves accounting-related discrepancies from external parties and responds to inquiries from SuburbanRNG personnel and vendors.
  • Supports SuburbanRNG personnel with responses to regulatory agencies, including reports and analysis for environmental credit market participation.
  • Manages the preparation, submission, and timely completion of government surveys, regulatory reports, and compliance with evolving requirements such as sales tax rules and environmental credit markets.
  • Establishes, documents, and monitors accounting procedures, recommending new and improved business processes and procedures as needed.
  • Performs comprehensive financial analysis and reporting, including variance, profitability, and trend analysis, to prepare financial presentations and reports for stakeholders and board-level meetings.
  • Leads budgeting and forecasting efforts in collaboration with department heads and senior management to ensure alignment with strategic objectives. Tracks budget performance, identifies areas for improvement, and recommends corrective actions. Conducts financial modeling and scenario analysis to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Offers financial expertise and analytical insights to support strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and business development. Assesses financial viability and ROI of projects through thorough financial modeling and analysis. Contributes to the development and evaluation of key performance indicators (KPIs) for monitoring the organization's financial performance.
  • Drives financial process improvement by continuously assessing and enhancing planning, analysis, and reporting processes, systems, and methodologies. Streamlines data collection and reporting through financial systems, ensuring data integrity and reducing manual effort.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement standardized processes, improve data accessibility, and strengthen financial governance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Business Management
  • Minimum of 4 years senior level accounting experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills to effectively and efficiently manage large amounts of data
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and internal controls
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook
