The Accounting Intern is responsible for day to day functions in the Treasury or Cash Control areas within the Finance Department. They will be primarily responsible for processing remote check deposits, performing bank and general ledger reconciliations and assist with various projects within the Treasury Department. The individual should have strong communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Recording necessary cash Journal Entries.
• Preparing deposits at various financial institutions utilizing remote scanning software.
• Preparing various general ledger account reconciliations.
• Prepares bank reconciliations and improves processes to prevent re-occurrence of discrepancies.
• Assist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
• Provide ongoing review of treasury controls and processes, and policy documents.
• Recommend and implement process efficiencies and improvements.
• Supports Underwriting/Customer Care/Claims departments cash inquiries and requests.
• Assists Supervisor, Cash Management on various projects, analyses, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education

• Must be a recent graduate or actively working towards a Bachelor's degree.
• Self-directed, quick learner with ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Skilled to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong spreadsheet and database skills preferred.
• Overtime may be required from time to time.
