Accounting Specialist


We are searching for an experienced Accounting Specialist.
South Bend, Indiana

Position Summary: The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for various accounting functions, including fixed assets, cash accounts, and financial reporting. The incumbent will collaborate with team members and other departments to resolve open items and provide input to process and procedures to create efficiency and effectiveness in accounting practices.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Manage Everwise accounting functions, such as setting up fixed assets, balancing cash accounts, and take part in reviewing our monthly financial reporting.

• Reconcile and review general ledger accounts for reporting accuracy.

• Assist team members and other departments with accounting-related inquiries.

• Evaluate, update and document accounting procedures creating effective methods for the Accounting Department and interrelated areas.

• Help senior accounting staff document and implement new workflow processes.

• Respond to inquiries from auditors and regulatory agencies.

• As needed, assume backup responsibilities for processes or reconciliation ensuring seamless operations.

• Take on additional responsibilities as needed for the growth and advancement of the Credit Union.

Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to analyze data accurately and efficiently.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong time management skills with proven ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Pivot tables.

Minimum Requirements:

• Postsecondary coursework in accounting or actively pursuing a degree accounting or finance.

• Practical accounting knowledge acquired with 1+ years of accounting experience.
