Job Summary

The Actuarial Assistant will be responsible for providing expert actuarial advice/support in the process of implementing the valuation of new products or any valuation impacts of enhancements to existing products. This would include developing, validating, and implementing valuation tools and communicating their results. The Actuarial Assistant will be a part of F&G's Actuarial Student Rotation Program and support various actuarial teams for F&G Annuities & Life.

Organization

This position reports to the Actuary, Actuarial Integration Modernization, Valuation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the valuation aspects of new product implementations or the enhancements of existing products.
  • Support the validation of Statutory, GAAP, and tax reserves and assist with any necessary valuation enhancements due to changes in industry valuation methodologies.
  • Support the maintenance of the valuation models for life or annuity products.
  • Analyze results demonstrating knowledge of actuarial concepts and processes
  • Prepare and maintain models & reports, as well as participation in reconciliation with results
  • Assist in developing answers to business questions through data
  • Complete ad hoc projects as assigned on a timely basis
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Experience and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or related technical field
  • 0- 2 years' experience preferred with an actuarial internship preferred
  • 0 - 4 actuarial exams passed preferred with an interest in pursuing FSA
  • Strong technical, analytical, organizational, computer, and team skills
  • Indexed Universal Life or Fixed indexed annuity knowledge preferred but not required
  • Exposure to GGY AXIS or similar actuarial modeling software preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Ability to learn and utilize actuarial software systems
  • Must be extremely detail oriented, analytical and be able handle multiple projects
  • Strong problem-solving skills that include advanced analytical and reasoning abilities
  • Demonstrate ability to apply actuarial principles to complex situations
  • Team player who has the ability to function as a key member of a small group
  • Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and is able to operate efficiently in unpredictable and challenging project environments
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills
