Educational and Experience Requirement:Associates Degree in related field. Four years relevant administrative assistant experience or experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position:Performs complex administrative assistant duties for the Department of Psychology and Philosophy.
Primary Responsibilities:Performs complex administrative assistant duties. Provides departmental or University information to students, departments, and staff. Prepares, reviews, revises, and interprets polices and procedures. Distributes correspondence, forms, reports, and documents necessary for effective department functioning. Maintains frequent contacts for administrator with public and university officials. Maintains complex personnel, administrative, or other special reports in confidence. May respond to correspondence not requiring attention of supervisor. May handle appointments, calendar, mail, inventory, travel, files, surveys, and memberships for the department and administrator. Handles P-Card purchases and monitors expenses related to budget and grants. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications:Requires general knowledge of standard office functions. Ability to apply knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, procedures, or principles of office management and supervision to work problems; to develop and modify work procedures, methods, and processes to improve efficiency; and to compose effective correspondence. Some knowledge of psychology and philosophy terminology is helpful. Work may require frequent contacts with people of prominence and public importance, students, and the general public. Exercises independent judgment in prioritizing duties, projects, and other assignments based on interpretation of general policy and guidelines provided by the supervisor.
Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
