As an Assistant Maintenance Manager with SUEZ, you'll work closely with our local Maintenance Manager to help organize and manage the maintenance that keeps the water treatment plant running smoothly. You'll lead the integrated maintenance and repair operations for the facilities and equipment for the Nassau County Sewer System (Bay Park STP, Cedar Creek WPCP, 58 Sewer Lift Stations).

Core Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field is required OR a combination of education and experience to meet the necessary skill level of the position.
  • Valid NY driver's license is required and must meet risk management guidelines.
  • 7+ years work experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified above.
  • Experience with automated purchasing, maintenance systems, and project contract administration in the water/wastewater utilities industry is a plus!

Other Useful Skills:

  • Good working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including experience in planning and scheduling work orders, tracking work orders status, tracking material and labor, and backlog management.
  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively to foster a cooperative team environment with customers, internal customers, the public, employees, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical, mechanical, instrumentation management principles methods and repair techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Skills in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policies, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures

Routine Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee the corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment.
  • Ensure the timely, accurate and cost effective delivery of maintenance services including: planned system overhauls, and renewal, replacement, and on-demand corrective repair services.
  • Serve as project manager for Capital Maintenance Events.
  • Provide input into the design and implementation of equipment repair and replacement solutions using the services of technical company personnel, outside consultants, and contractors.
  • Assist in improving the reliability of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and automation equipment including Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Assist in the redesign and installation of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment and processes to improve efficiency, operability, and maintainability.
  • Assist Project Management with inventory/cost controls, as well as SUEZ financial and budgeting requirements.
  • Assist Project Management with all efforts related to Contract Compliance.
  • Assist Project Management to develop a culture of focus and engagement at the project to achieve EH&S excellence.
  • Direct the implementation of shop-specific safety training programs and assure workforce compliance with OSHA/NY OSHA job safety requirements.
