Summary:

The Department of Information Technology & Operations Management (ITOM) in the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) is seeking applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor or associate professor in Supply Chain Management with strong background in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, starting Fall 2022. The position duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate level Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, and Business analytics courses, and strong research in these areas.

Job description and expectations:

The successful candidate will teach departmental and Executive Programs' courses, both undergraduate and graduate; assist in curriculum development; maintain strong research activity; possess a passion for research and working with the students. ITOM offers courses in several formats: traditional in-person lecture, lecture-capture/hybrid (mixed online), and fully on-line. Familiarity and/or interest in all three delivery methods is necessary. Emphasis will be placed on excellence and ability to publish in premier journals.

About ITOM Department: The Department of Information Technology and Operations Management's (ITOM) mission is to develop competence in information systems, business analytics, supply chain and operations management and related decision sciences disciplines for traditional and nontraditional students across the College of Business; to produce skilled individuals proficient in information technology who are able to contribute effectively to their organizations and communities in an ever-evolving technological environment; to engage in an active partnership with the business community; and to continually innovate and increase the quality of its educational and research activities in a manner that increases education effectiveness and global reach. The Department seeks to leverage FAU's south Florida location, which is one of the country's most dynamic areas of international trade and transportation. In addition, the ITOM Department has just launched two new graduate programs, MS in Supply Chain Management and MS in Business Analytics. The Department is also relaunching its PhD program in Fall 2022.

Minimum Qualifications:Required:
An earned doctorate degree from an accredited institution by the time of appointment in the field of Operations/Supply Chain Management (SCM) and/or Business Analytics, or in a related discipline such as Management Information Systems (MIS), Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related academic area, is required.

Demonstrated ability to publish in high quality academic journals is also required, as is a commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and community engagement.

The ability to teach classes in various teaching modes is also required.

The ability to teach classes in business analytics and SCM is required, and the ability to teach MIS is a plus.

Candidates applying for the Assistant Professor position should possess an ongoing research program, preferably based on technical solutions, with the proven potential to excel in the area of business analytics/SCM.

Beyond a strong foundation in academic business analytics, the candidate should have demonstrable technical skills to implement business analytics solutions in areas such as algorithm development, machine learning, and/or big data analysis. In addition, applicants would ideally have strong research interests in any of the following: supply chain analytics, blockchain, IoT, Industry 4.0, and the application of modern technologies in business environments. Industry experience in analytics and SCM is strongly desired.
