(Contingent upon available funding): 0.00 - 0.00, Commensurate with education and experience Work Schedule: Monday-Friday Faculty Appt Period: 9 Months Job Summary: The Division of Engineering Technology at Oklahoma State University (OSU) seeks applications for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research, teach undergraduate or graduate courses in fire protection and safety, mentor students, be involved in service to the university, and their profession. With regards to research opportunities, the state of Oklahoma is a leader in the petrochemical, aerospace, energy, defense, and agricultural industries. Applicants with expertise (academic research and/or industry experience) in one of more of the following fields are encouraged to apply: industrial hygiene, industrial/occupational safety (including compliance programs), explosion protection/explosives/munitions, fire protection engineering, fire dynamics/modeling, process safety, or other similar fields. Required Qualifications: 

Master's degree in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology.

A Ph.D. is preferred, though candidates with exceptional industry experience, applicable processional licensure, and a M.S. will be considered. This position may include temporary assignments with our partner international university, In addition, there are collaborative opportunities to develop and offer innovative continuing education courses as a part of OSU's land grant mission. The successful applicant will enhance the existing faculty teaching portfolio in terms of technical expertise and professional practice. Responsibilities include development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum. This includes development of learning materials, preparing lectures and laboratory assignments, and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance. Providing a rigorous ongoing assessment process for all courses is required. Classroom delivery is expected to incorporate principles of active learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. / Ed.D. in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology

This position is expected to establish office hours and effectively manage graduate teaching assistants and/or undergraduate graders. The ability to accelerate the development of students written and oral communication skills is essential. The desired candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire student while maintaining the highest standards in every challenging curriculum. Other desirable skills or interests include, but are not limited to, service as the advisor to a student organization, undergraduate and graduate student advising, and participation on departmental, college, or university committees. Professional registration, teaching and research experience at the university level, and three years of industrial experience are preferred.
