Job Summary

The Assistant Professor/Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction and related activities. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, instructional counseling, academic advising, program recruitment, serving on various college committees, and participating in professional activities and organizations. The professor is responsible for performing assigned teaching duties during designated times. The duties will be preformed at the Jackson campus, but will include travel to affiliate locations as needed. The professor will operate under the supervision of the Radiologic Technology Program Director and the Dean of Health Sciences and Nursing and in cooperation of other stakeholders. Other stakeholders include the RADT Program Advisory Committee, Jackson State Community College and all relevant accrediting bodies.

Job Duties

  • 40% - Prepares and delivers lectures/conducts lab activities on topics and assigned courses for RADT program classes. Be proficient in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising of students. Compiles, administers, evaluates, and grades students' class work, assignments, exams and papers; keeps students informed of their progress by providing mid-term grades at a minimum and discussing progress with them individually. Develops curricula and instructional materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, study and supplemental course materials for didactic and laboratory sections of assigned courses. Thrive to be creative with course/lab delivery methods and assess their effectiveness; seek out resources to improve pedagogy. Be well-versed in program policy and provide input as needed. Provides data for program assessment plan each term as requested; analyze data and create action plans for identified SLOs. Troubleshoot issues with laboratory imaging equipment and work with companies and program director to resolve. - (Essential)
  • 40% - Coordinates students' clinical experience by communicating very regularly and consistently with clinical preceptors and students by email, phone, text, etc. concerning clinical student rotation schedules, student attendance in the clinical setting, and student completion of clinical requirements; checking Trajecsys clinical management system multiple times daily and contacting company with any issues. Train new clinical preceptors on using Trajecsys system and getting students signed on and oriented. Maintains spreadsheets and records of student clinical activities for grading purposes; responsible for participating in student performance reviews and counseling sessions and for scheduling and grading image critique assignments, creating and administering clinical final exams. Required to submit final clinical grades to the college. Visits clinical sites regularly either electronically or preferred on site. Receives and files student radiation monitor reports from clinical facilities. Assists RADT program director with the onboarding process for student clinical experience to include verifying background checks, drug screens, immunization records, hospital orientations, acquiring hospital ID badges, sending letters of good standing to clinical sites, etc. Cooperates with clinical preceptors and Program Director to maintain a clinical preceptor manual and provide input in the Program Handbook. Collaborates with program director and clinical preceptors in periodic review and revision of clinical course materials. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Assist with program planning and evaluation. Assist and participate in the RADT program advisory committee groups. Collaborate with program faculty to manage FB page and assist with student RAD Club and activities. Attend to the needs of assigned student advisees and other prospective program students. Participate in scheduled and impromptu visits/tours of college classroom and labs; explain program admissions and the profession. Participate in recruitment activities held within our service area and beyond. Assist Program Director with processing program applications each year and coordinating student interviews and new student program orientation session. Assist with planning and attend the program completion ceremony for graduating students each year. Attend all required faculty meetings, college assemblies/convocations, orientation activities, community events, etc. Participate on college committees as needed. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Maintain compliance with JRCERT accreditation standards and objectives. Upon Program Director request, participate in preparing self-study and interim reports as necessary. Be well-versed in accreditation standards related to all aspects of the program. Be conscious of ARRT requirements for students sitting for national certification exam. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

* Must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
* Current certification with ARRT and in good standing
* Minimum of 2 years practicing as an R.T. (R) in the field

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
* Prior teaching experience either in a JRCERT accredited RADT program or in high school health science education.
* Effective experience as a clinical preceptor for a JRCERT accredited RADT program.

* Should demonstrate commitment to the college and RADT program's mission and philosophy.
* Ability to work collaboratively with course professors, college support staff, and clinical staff.
* Be an independent worker/learner; willing to take time to learn and expand pedagogy.
* Take initiative to develop and create new projects for students/program/college and manage those to benefit program goals.
* Stay abreast of changing developments within the profession.
* Must be detailed oriented and possess quality time management skills
* Be proficient in Microsoft Office products, email, etc.
* Use excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially via telephone and email.
* Be approachable and able to effectively handle situations with a variety of individuals in a professional and courteous manner.
* Be respectful in online and in person environments to reflect recognition of gender, race, etc. and practice means of promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion within the classroom and clinical experience.
* Present a positive and professional image when representing the program, the college, and the profession.
* Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and program policy.
* Able to perform all essential and marginal duties connected to this position.

Pay Rate: $47,620 - $57,144 Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.
