Department Summary

The University of North Texas (UNT) College of Music is the largest public university music program and one of the most respected comprehensive music schools in the United States. It offers fully accredited degrees from the bachelor to doctoral levels and is home to the world's first jazz studies degree program. Faculty include internationally acclaimed artists and scholars in composition, conducting, ethnomusicology, music education, music entrepreneurship, music history, music theory, and performance. UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Position Overview

* Teaching: Recruit, retain, and mentor a robust enrollment of undergraduate and graduate applied students in organ and harpsichord. Teach courses in organ and harpsichord literature and basso continuo.

* Research/creative activities: Maintain an established national/international profile as a performing artist (soloist, collaborative musician, recording artist, clinician, etc.).

* Service: Participate fully in academic and professional activities, including service assignments, across the campus and the profession. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Earned doctorate in organ. Graduate credential in harpsichord. Excellence as a teacher/recruiter/mentor and active, artist-level performer on organ and harpsichord. Successful teaching at the college/university level. Success as a collaborative musician. High standards of professional ethics and collegiality.

The successful candidate will be expected to relocate to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience, expertise, and enthusiasm for a broad range of repertoire (early music through today), as well as commissioning/premiering/recording new works for organ. Proven record of attracting, developing, and retaining outstanding organ and harpsichord students at the undergraduate and graduate level.
