Nature of Work

We are seeking an Associate or Full Professor to become our inaugural Associate Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access (DEIA). The person in this position will provide leadership and direction for DEIA program development and implementation across the University of Colorado Cancer Center and its partner institutions. The CU Cancer Center consists of approximately 250 staff as well as 300 researchers and physicians at multiple campuses (primarily Anschutz Medical Campus and Boulder) and healthcare delivery institutions (primarily UCHealth, CHCO, VA). This position will receive up to 0.50 FTE support based on the NIH Cap, including a Chair.

Candidates should have an established background and foundational knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, access, cultural awareness and competency, and exemplify the characteristics of an inclusive leader in daily interactions with people at all levels of the organization. Faculty appointments will be in the appropriate Department in the School of Medicine. This appointment is accompanied by an endowed chair and significant financial resources to stimulate and sustain a robust diversity, equity, inclusion and access program.

Supervision Received

This position will report to the Chair of the appointing department under the primary appointment, and to the Director of the CU Cancer Center.

Staff and/or faculty employed to carry out diversity, equity, inclusion and access programs, and others as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities of the Role
    Define a CU Cancer Center plan for advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the center workforce including members, staff and trainees Collaborate with key organizational leaders, including the Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the chief diversity officer for UCHealth, Medical Director for Health Equity, and vice chancellor of the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement for CU Anschutz Medical Campus, to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and access across all levels of the School, Campus and University. Collaborate with key Center leaders, including the Associate Director of Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) and the Associate Director of Cancer Research Training, Education and Coordination (CRTEC) to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and access across the Center. Lead initiatives that result in increased diversity in membership and leadership roles across the Cancer Center. Develop, assess, and continuously improve approaches to increase recruitment and retention of diverse students, residents, faculty, and staff, including working closely with school deans, department chairs, departmental diversity leaders, and residency program directors. Develop measurable goals and objectives for diversity and inclusion efforts, track these metrics longitudinally, and prepare annual reports of progress in DEIA efforts. Shared Responsibilities of Cancer Center Senior Leaders
    Actively participates in UCCC leadership management committees, including but not limited to the Executive Committee, Governance Committee, Shared Resource Management Committee (as appropriate), among others Serves as a principal participant in the development of the UCCC strategic plan, including the identification of priorities, development of goals and tactics, advocacy within internal and external constituencies, and review and revision of plans on a recurring basis. Participate actively in the preparation of the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) application, site visits, and non-competitive renewal application/progress report processes.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at:

Assistant Professor – PhD only - $100,000 - $200,000

Assistant Professor – MD only - $250,000 - $325,000

Assistant Professor – PhD and MD - $275,000 - $400,000



Associate Professor – PhD only - $150,000 - $250,000

Associate Professor – MD only - $275,000 - $350,000

Associate Professor – PhD and MD - $300,000 - $450,000



Professor – PhD only - $200,000 - $300,000

Professor – MD only - $300,000 - $375,000

Professor – PhD and MD - $325,000 - $500,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
