Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases has an opening for a full-time Associate Division Head for Clinical Affairs.

Nature of Work:

The Division of Infectious Diseases is recruiting an experienced academic ID Clinician to become our Associate Divison Head for Clinical Affairs. The successful candidate for this important leadership role will have responsibilities for overall direction of our clinical program which includes inpatient consultation, outpatient ID consultation, and comprehensive HIV care in a major academic medical center in which excellent patient care, teaching and clinical research are main priorities.

Examples of Work Performed – Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. The principal leadership role is direction and oversight of the Infectious Disease Division clinical activities at the University of Colorado Hospital. There are five inpatient services (two general ID, one Orthopedic ID, one transplant ID and one ID oncology service). There is also a large outpatient practice with over 1800 HIV patients and a diversity of other infectious disease patients. The Associate Division Head for Clinical Affairs is assisted by a Physician Director of Inpatient services and a Physician Director of Outpatient Services and reports to the ID Division Head and Department of Medicine Chair. There are also six HIV outreach clinics across the state.
  2. Participation in clinical and administrative activities at the University of Colorado Hospital focused on quality, care coordination, and the development of new or expanded clinical programs.
  3. Oversight of clinical service scheduling policies in collaboration with the Director of Inpatient services and Director of Outpatient Services.
  4. Inpatient and Outpatient Attending, which encompasses teaching and mentoring of trainees
  5. Oversight of division financial matters related to clinical income.
  6. Participation in division case conferences, journal clubs and grand rounds.
  7. Other scholarly activities.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at:

    Assistant Professor - $180,000 to $220,000

    Associate Professor - $190,000 - $250,000

    Professor - $220,000 - $300,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications for All Ranks:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • MD, DO, MD-PhD, DO-PhD degree
  • Completion of ID fellowship at accredited program
  • Be ABIM board eligible or board certified in Infectious Diseases

Preferred Qualifications for All Ranks:
  • Master Clinician skills
  • A publication record in some field of ID

Knowledge, Skills and Abilites:
  • ID clinical practice skills
  • Collegiality, listening skills, strong decision-mkaing capacity when handling competing interests and staffing issues for diverse physicians, physican-scientists and advance practice providers
  • Ability to liaison well with other department, division, and hosptial leadership
