We are seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to support the National Institutes of Health's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases' (NIAID) Vaccine Immunology Program in Bethesda, MD. Responsibilities

• Perform computational analysis of Pacific Biosciences SMRT sequencing of HIV envelope.
• Perform sequence data quality control and trimming, CCS generation, unique species determination and read counting.
• Perform downstream analysis of genetic diversity, phylogeny, and amino acid composition.
• Develop, design and implement new next-generation sequence (NGS) data analysis pipelines for existing projects and newly arising projects.
• Compile and consolidate annotations from specified reference sources using Variant Annotation tools.
• Prepare NGS analysis results for presentation at lab meetings and publications.
• Implement validation analysis of developed pipelines through use of known reference or gold standard datasets.
• Maintain records of NGS experiments analyzed and facilitate re-analysis of previous experiments where necessary with ability to track and archive runs using inhouse backup systems.
• Work with laboratory staff on experimental interpretation and design of new experiments.
• Provide statistical support/analysis on research data.
• Develop pipelines to automate the integration of data from phase 2 and phase 3 clinical trials and perform Quality Checks & Monitor controls data.
• Develop Python and R based workflow to standardize and integrate multiple COVID-19 sample's results from different cohorts and assays and upload them into a central NIH Server location using LABKEY platform.
• Develop Python & Bash based workflows to support data analysis of immunoglobulin sequencing for vaccine clinical trials.
• Develop R based data analysis scripts to perform statistical analysis of sera binding assay results for clinical trials.
• Build informatics solutions to support Vaccine Immunology Program(VIP) Metric reports including EQAPOL data uploads and Control Trending Charts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science field is required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of related experience is required.
• Demonstrates experience working in a research environment.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, Python and R.
• Experience with MiSeq, NextSeq500 and Novaseq technology is preferred.
• Current with NGS genomic technologies and data investigation including the ability to troubleshoot existing and newly generated mechanisms.
• Experience with multiple project management and knowledge of quality assurance/regulatory standards within the field.
