Purpose

Business Developer will develop utility-scale wind and solar power projects in New York and the Mid-Atlantic for the purpose of achieving commercially operating renewable power in the NYISO and PJM electricity markets.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain, support and/or manage site development of wind and solar projects: including leasing or optioning land for lease or purchase property, getting easements, and curing title defects.
  • Obtain land use entitlements, tax incentives, and other local/state/federal permits necessary for construction.
  • Engage with project area communities and develop working relationships.
  • Be a key point of contact for project stakeholders, including landowners and local/state officials.
  • Develop project budgets and schedules, write reports, and give presentations as required and directed.
  • Lead and coordinate a multi-disciplinary project team.
  • Support project acquisition and or divestitures, including conducting due diligence.
  • Assist with developing strategy and business opportunities in the region.

Skills and Requirements

  • Demonstrate performance in creating and leading initiatives and building consensus at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Windows based business software applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS and Google Earth or similar geographic mapping software.
  • Written work is clear, concise, and compelling.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of NYISO/U.S. electricity markets.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% or more as required within the region, and to corporate headquarters in Oregon.
  • Demonstrate experience in contract review/negotiation, land-related development, project management, and problem/conflict resolution.
  • Based in New York, Northeast or on East Coast. Able to work in U.S., native (or ability to communicate as such) English speaker, valid U.S. driver's license.

Valued Qualifications
  • Experience in renewable energy project development or equivalent in the electricity sector.
  • Experience of developing renewable energy projects in NYISO, NEISO or PJM.
  • Experience in developing a project/real estate or project management.
  • Knowledge or understanding of agricultural and energy land use practices.
  • Familiarity with title and survey requirements for land leasing or purchasing.
  • Military or public service experience.
