How you can make a bigger difference:

Geller House is a Rapid Intervention Center (RIC) that is located on Staten Island and is operated by The Jewish Board. We service up to 25 youth of all genders, ages 11-16 years old, from the NYC area. Using the Sanctuary Model, Geller House specializes in servicing youth that are victims of trauma, abuse and neglect, as well as families dealing with substance abuse and persistent mental illness. Geller House is a short term residential facility, where the youth obtains a full diagnostic evaluation in order to make a recommendation the best placement and after care services for the youth and their families. Finding a safe and supportive program is critical to the well-being of these at risk youth. Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Routinely enter, manage and update client data into various data bases.
  • Collaborate with oversight agencies to ensure proper access for cases.
  • Data enter incidents that take place during school time into Altrac.
  • Provide supervision during family visits.
  • Make visits and assessments to the communities and homes of clients and resources.
  • May make routine community contacts on behalf of a social worker, e.g., school reports, medical reports, police reports, etc.
  • Assist with Inventory.
  • Maintaining and submitting department credit card receipts.
  • Answer calls, take accurate messages and route calls to the appropriate party. Take accurate, detailed messages where necessary.
  • Will complete tasks associated with a Milieu Counselors and Case Associate which may include: escorting a resident on an appointment, supervising resident in the residence and community, & assisting in time of crisis.
  • Will complete tasks associated with that of a clerical position, such as filling, data entry and supply storage.
  • Errands into the community related to program functioning.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Integrate best practices and improvements for the program


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to perform a helping role
  • Ability to support the milieu and social work department in times of crisis by supervising residents and assisting with therapeutic holds.
