Category Manager at TSI

The Category Manager is responsible for developing sourcing strategy for, and the management of, assigned commodities (Electro Mechanical) for TSI and DICKEY-john. This position will be accountable for the sourcing, cost management, supplier performance management, establishment of long-term agreements, as warranted, and interfacing with other internal personnel. This position will also have responsibility for leading the Supply Chain and Engineering Teams for their assigned commodity areas.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will be responsible for:

  • Working directly with the Supply Chain Director, effectively lead commodity areas assigned to ensure best total cost of ownership of material and service acquisitions, including the negotiation of supply and pricing agreements on behalf of TSI and DICKEY-john.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to tactical level supply management personnel within the operating locations to drive improved supplier performance for Cost, Delivery, and Quality.
  • Lead the development of effective strategies for assigned commodities, with a global perspective.
  • Lead the continuous improvement efforts within the TSI and DICKEY-john supply base(s).
  • Optimize the number of suppliers in each commodity area, and work with those selected suppliers toward attainment of best in class performance levels for assigned commodities.
  • Support management of relevant dashboards for both internal and external (supplier) performance.
  • Provide input on ECO items affecting the commodities supported and working with peers to drive effective implementation of ECO's for items in assigned commodities.
  • Active member of new product development teams that affect assigned commodities and to guide the product development team with recommended sources and the preferred solutions.
  • Analyze information, make recommendations, and present relative data to the Supply Chain Director and Project Management on new supplier selection and current metrics achieved by suppliers.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing and administrative lean transitional events.
  • Research and analyze industry best practices and drive improvements to achieve "best in class".
  • Lead commodity teams for assigned commodity areas.

What Do You Need?

Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or another related technical field
  • Minimum of 4+ years of work experience insupply chain management
  • Minimum of 4+ years of Tier I ERP software experience
  • Experience in a technical product manufacturing environment
  • Experienced in managing commodity areas/leading cross-functional commodity teams
Desired
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain
  • APICS Certification, ISM Certification, or Graduate degree in a technical field
  • Experience in a low volume manufacturer
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing background
  • Experience working in a multi-plant and/or matrix management environment
