Department Summary:

The College of Health and Public Service (HPS) at the University of North Texas is distinguished as one of the few Tier One research universities designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), prepares graduates to address diverse and complex social issues such as aging, disability, disaster management and recovery, criminal justice, health disparities, and public safety, and find solutions to challenges in public administration, public health, and urban design. Position Summary:

The Department of Rehabilitation and Health Services in the College of Health and Public Service seeks an outstanding and energetic full-time, clinical assistant professor with expertise in the field of rehabilitation counseling or related counseling specialties to begin in Fall 2024. This is a 9- month professional track faculty, multi-year appointment that may be nonrenewed at the end of each year for no cause at the sole discretion of the university. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate-level courses in rehabilitation studies such as rehabilitation assessment, counseling, employment and career development, and addiction and disability studies, with the potential to teach graduate-level courses. The candidate selected for this position will be expected to engage in high-quality and innovative instruction in both traditional and non-traditional formats; collaborate on clinical research, serve as appropriate on department, college, and university committees as well as participate in professional organizations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have earned a Master's degree in rehabilitation counselor education, counselor education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or have a Master's degree in a related field.
  • Evidence of experience with instructional technology (instructional software, learning management systems such as Canvas) and ability to teach in traditional and non-traditional formats and settings (on-campus, off-campus, evenings, online)
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, and teaching students in undergraduate and graduate rehabilitation education programs
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines.
  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, or eligibility to become certified or licensed in Texas.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in rehabilitation counselor education, counselor education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or have a doctoral degree in a related field.
  • Evidence of engagement in collaborative clinical research or research-related publications.
