Position Summary

The Clinical Coordinator, Human Services coordinates and oversees clinical placements for students, serves as a liaison for students, provides support for adjunct faculty, and provides other needed assistance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Program Coordination 

Seeks and establishes placement sites for internships. Visits and evaluates prospective social work and human service agencies for degree seeking, advanced mental health, and addiction certificate and human service assistant certificate students and determines appropriateness for utilization of placements.

Reviews and updates course goals and objectives, provides information and guidance to field instructors, and initiates Clinical Affiliate Agreements.
Creates, updates and distributes placement applications to students and reviews applications. Coordinates practicum placements. Determines student eligibility and matches student with sites.

Facilitates orientations and organizes distribution of field documents. Collaborates with SAHS faculty and adjuncts, and serves as an advocate for
students. Assists in recruitment, hiring, and training of adjunct faculty liaisons. Assigns faculty and adjunct liaisons to students/placement sites. Responds to issues and concerns, answers routine questions, and provides general guidance in support of students.

Student Support

Provides customer service. Responds to telephone and email inquiries, meets with potential students, participates in program information sessions and provides general assistance.

Reviews practicum evaluations submitted by students, field instructors, and liaisons. Communicates findings to faculty and liaisons. Participates in the ongoing evaluation of approved placement sites and advises faculty and staff of recommendations for continued utilization of the sites.

Administrative

Provides administrative support for adjuncts. Keeps ongoing records of clinical placements. Maintains confidential or sensitive records and information.

Other Duties & Responsibilities 

Works assigned schedule, which may include visiting sites outside of the normal workday and work week. Exhibits regular and predictable attendance. Attends all required meetings and training. May assist students with course and degree scheduling.

Employee occasionally lifts up to 30 pounds.

Working Conditions

Normal classroom and office working conditions. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to classroom setting and business offices.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:
Human Service field; best practices in Human Services, Social Work, Developmental Disabilities, and/or Addiction Studies; computers and software, including cloud applications, to include Microsoft Office applications (Work, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); secretarial science; office practices and procedures; administrative and office management.

Skill in: building relationships with Human Service providers; written and verbal communication; operation of general office equipment; maintaining good public relations; customer service; general typing; planning, scheduling and organizing practicums; collaborating with other agencies, business and community resources.

Ability to: demonstrate flexibility; work effectively with persons of varying cultures and diversity; work independently demonstrating initiative; develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, supervisors, job contacts and general public; answer routine inquiries; maintain confidential and sensitive information; maintain accurate and complete work records; identify potential practicum sites and negotiate mentorship and internship contracts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field. 3 years' experience in the human service field. Experience in social administration including training staff and/or conducting orientations. Degree in a related field. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s). An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Social Work
