The State of Nebraska, Department of Health and Human Services is now hiring for the position of Certified Master Social Worker for the Division of Behavioral Health at Lincoln Regional Center.

Hiring Rate: $27.068/hour and additional $3/hour facility differential pay. Provisionally licensed applicants will start at $25.181/hour and additional $3/hour facility differential pay.
Examples of Work
Under limited supervision, Certified Master Social Workers provide professional, clinical social work services to determine client needs and provide complex therapeutic services.
Serve as a member on the interdisciplinary team to participate in treatment planning assigned clients. Serve as a liaison to the community as clients' needs warrant, provide psychosocial assessments, individual and group therapy; initiate and implement discharge planning, and manage a caseload of approximately 20 patients.
Communicate through written reports to Mental Health Boards and Courts as needed. The Master Social Worker provides clinical guidance to social workers, direct staff, practicum students, and or volunteers. Work is performed under the Director of Social Work.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in social work and two years of Master Social Worker experience. Certification as a Master Social Worker by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is required in accordance with Neb. Rev. Stat. § 38-2128. Licensed Mental Health Practitioner by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is also required for this position.
Recent and soon-to-be graduates and provisionally licensed applicants will be considered. Provisionally licensed applicants would start employment as a Master Social Worker at the starting pay rate of $25.181/hour. Incumbent must obtain required licensure before they can start work in this position.
Will consider candidates eligible for license within 3 months of application. Candidates must obtain license before start date.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of theories and methods of social diagnosis and biopsychosocial assessment; social systems, family systems, systems theory, and social institutions; the cause of social problem areas and their impact on individuals, families, and communities. State and federal laws and regulations affecting assessment and intervention; crisis intervention theories and techniques; human behavior, growth, and development; theories of family and social interactions; professional terminology as related to therapy, psychology and human services.
Skill in: observing and interpreting verbal and non-verbal behavior; interviewing clients to collect and elicit essential information and assess needs and progress; listening to and understanding information received from others; communicating so others understand; conducting differential diagnosis of individual and groups; utilizing personality theory and diagnostic methods in a therapeutic context and formulating goals; assessing functional impairments so they can be addressed in treatment and discharge planning; assembling relevant facts to formulated a comprehensive psycho-social evaluation; discussing sensitive/emotional subjects in a non-threatening, supportive manner; utilizing appropriate social work intervention methods to build client strengths and facilitate positive change; establishing and maintaining rapport with clients and families.
Ability to: conduct psychotherapy of a complex nature; interpret complex psycho-social phenomena; serve as a role model in a professional relationship with clients and social work staff; communicate social work practice and theory to professionals in other disciplines; mediate negotiations between patients, families/guardian and clinicians; generate creative and effective means of dealing with obstacles in the implementation of discharge plans and the provision of social work services to clients; write concise and accurate reports and correspondence.
