Position Summary

Program, set up and operate a variety of CNC lathes/mills, Swiss style lathes as well as various manual equipment with little to no supervision.
Essential Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machine for new or existing part to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines such as lathes, mills, grinders etc.
  • The AA must set a positive example and lead others to a path of improvement, train others to set up and operate various machines and processes needed to ensure production is maintained.
  • Assist the Machine shop supervisor with the day to day machine shop flow of work and scheduling of machinists, operators and personnel to effectively use the resources of the Machine Shop.
  • Assist with training and development of employees to enable cross functionality throughout the machine shop.
  • Help Incorporate setup reduction methods to reduce cost and improve our throughput.
  • Other duties, assigned by Manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school or minimum of 7 years machining experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, to analyze, and to interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest, commissions percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Thorough knowledge of CNC lathes, tool grinders, grinding wheels, manual lathes and CNC mills. Knowledge of measuring equipment, wrenches, full complement of tools and their use. Knowledge of the machinability of various materials. Some supervision helpful.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
