Are you a Technology Leader that is looking to leverage your Guidewire expertise to empower and transform one of the nation's top P&C carriers? AF Group is seeking a dynamic, Guidewire savvy leader that will take our product delivery and support teams to the next level of success!

The Director of IT Delivery will manage a portfolio of Guidewire software services and capabilities that support our core insurance operations. As a senior leader within our technology team, you will be responsible for building and motivating a team of highly skilled and specialized Guidewire professionals. This is a critical role, that will focus on continual improvement, operational excellence and delivering transformative outcomes and value to our business partners.

This highly specialized position focuses on driving growth across our Worker's Compensation and admitted commercial insurance products. You will focus on next-generation solutions and services, leverage existing investments, and partner with stakeholders to create operational efficiencies, new solution offerings, and a technological foundation for new and organic growth opportunities

You will work closely with a combination of internal and external resources, individual contributors, and senior leadership. Your experiences must demonstrate an ability to cultivate relationships, ideate to explore new opportunities, embody servant leadership, lead with quality, and deliver continuous improvements toward operational efficiencies and enhanced processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

  • Ensure IT investments maintain their alignment to business vision and goals.
  • Partner with brand, department and portfolio leadership to develop a product vision, roadmap and delivery capability that maximizes value and unlocks the power of our Guidewire investments and other supporting technologies within the Worker's Compensation ecosystem.
  • Oversee business analysts and software engineering, development of projects and initiatives, sourcing management, testing and defect management to ensure the IT department is providing the necessary support for enterprise applications.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate the efforts of the business unit to manage and maintain services, the provision of which s/he is responsible.
  • Partner with architecture, infrastructure, portfolio, data, and operations to ensure seamless integration of platforms and optimal delivery of solutions.
  • Act as the custodian of ongoing live services and ensure that IT Delivery is focused on relentlessly improving the provision of these services.
  • Partner with brand and portfolio leadership to ensure the alignment of vision and delivery of value using managed services teams and fulltime resources.
  • Direct and oversee vendor relationships related to managing and expanding the brands of AF Group.
  • Define how the quality of service is measured through the definition and reporting of key performance indicators.
  • Monitor and report delivery metrics and controls.
  • Provide vision, leadership, planning, project coordination and management for the development of a cost-effective department while concurrently facilitating efficient operations to meet current and future business needs within the organization.
  • Represent company in community and industry, programs and conferences.
  • Participate in the development of programs as a strategic partner that supports the Company plan.
  • Participate in development of annual departmental budget, monitor budget and identify budget discrepancies. Research cause and make recommendations.
  • Responsibility for balancing workload to optimize the effectiveness of the department.
DIRECTION EXERCISED:

Directly supervises exempt and non-exempt staff in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State Laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to selection of vendor partners, prioritizing, assigning, and directing work in collaboration with the product owner and vendor delivery manager, appraising performance and addressing ineffective processes or controls.

EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field required. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.

EXPERIENCE:

Ten years of progressive responsibility in an IT environment with demonstrated technical knowledge which provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities. Five years management or supervisory in IT required. Experience within the insurance industry highly preferred.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA):
  • Demonstrated experience with Guidewire Insurance software and its associated infrastructure.
  • Broad understanding of the commercial insurance lines, including Worker's Compensation.
  • Deep understanding of the AF Group's business goals, vision, business domain and brands.
  • A passion for the pursuit of exceptional customer experiences, operational improvement and delivering value to our business and customers.
  • Ability to translate business goals into IT demand.
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management.
  • Experience with Agile software delivery methodologies.
  • Proven change leader, able to motivate team members to excel beyond expectations.
  • Deep understanding of application testing and test automation.
  • Experience developing within a micro-services architecture and API first approach.
  • Proficiency in resource and capacity management.
  • Architectural leadership, including the use of API's, on-premises, and cloud technologies.
  • Experience with the design, delivery, and support of insurance software solutions, including troubleshooting, software development, testing, performance, and quality management.
  • Knowledge of industry leading practices and applications to demonstrate the ability for IT to continually add new services supporting business goals.
  • Strong conceptual understanding of strategic planning processes including development of goals and initiatives, with proven leadership skills in project management, planning, and meeting facilitation.
  • Exceptional leadership skills.
  • Vendor and contract management.
  • Good business and financial awareness of the impact of Service Levels and any associated failures.
  • Strong communication skills including excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills to influence key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with and empower others on a collaborative basis to ensure success of unit team.
  • Ability to effectively exchange information, in verbal or written form, by sharing ideas, reporting facts and other information, responding to questions, and employing active listening techniques.

  • WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards.

    Pay Range

    Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate's skills and professional experience, geographic location, market and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $142,700 and $239,000.
