Meta's Reality Labs Research (RLR) is the world's leading AR/VR research facility, exploring and inventing the future of computing. RLR is tasked with delivering discontinuous technological leaps, both near and long term, that have the potential to reshape the way humans interact with each other and with the digital world in powerful new ways.This role will lead Reality Labs Research Engineering, a highly cross-functional organization of electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, firmware engineers, software engineers, technical program managers, technical artists and various engineering services developing, prototyping and incubating novel research for future computing platforms.As the Director of RLR Engineering you will have the rare opportunity to enable, support, inspire, and lead a diverse team of the world's leading engineers working with the world's leading research to create novel AR/VR technologies that will define the future of computing.

Director, Meta Reality Labs Research Engineering Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, mentor, inspire, enable, and grow a world-class research engineering team
  • Establish a roadmap and strategy aligned to research delivering proof of concepts from theoretical solutions
  • Recruit world-class talent and provide mentorship to team members
  • Develop strategic relationships with product peers and engineering, research, business, design, and user research teams to help research teams define research requirements and system architectures
  • Scale and grow leadership


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of people management experience in multi-disciplinary global technology development teams, including building high-performing teams and organization
  • 10+ years of engineering work experience, including 5+ years experience of hands-on technical management
  • Experience thinking strategically and executing methodically in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Collaboration and relationship-building experience, working with all levels of management and individual contributors internally and externally
  • BS in engineering or related field or relevant experience
