LC State invites applications for the position of Director of Athletics.
Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $95,000 - $105,000
Degree Required: Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
Required Qualifications:
1. 3 - 5 years of progressively responsible experience in athletics administration.
2. Knowledge of NAIA or NCAA rules and regulations.
3. Outstanding skills in management, organization, motivation, and leadership.
4. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment, demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making, and function as an effective problem solver.
5. Experience in marketing, staff, and budget management, and working directly with coaches.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, public speaking and problem-solving skills required.
7. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
8. Demonstrated ability to clearly and persuasively articulate the mission of the institution to constituents, and motivate potential donors to support the college. Must be comfortable working with individuals at the highest levels at the college as well as those who have high-profile positions of responsibility in business, industry, government, and the community at-large.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of collegiate athletics.
2. Experience in fundraising and capital campaigns.
Responsibilities:
1. The Director is responsible for the operation of the Athletic Department; and serves as a liaison to the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) and the NAIA.
2. The Director is responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by the CCC, NAIA, the administration of institutional policies and procedures, and specific rules and regulations that govern the various intercollegiate athletics programs, as well as state and federal compliance.
3. The Director oversees facilities management of the Activity Center, athletic and playing fields, courts, etc.
4. The Director is responsible for coordinating student disciplinary incidents with the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
5. The Director is responsible for the development and distribution of an annual student athlete handbook and for ensuring that each team, coach, and athletics staff engage in a formal review of its content.
6. The Director is the principal representative for intercollegiate athletics programs, which requires engaging the campus, the community, and the state in the promotion of these programs.
7. The Director is responsible for the allocation of budgetary resources and for the oversight of departmental financial systems. This responsibility requires balancing programmatic needs with budgetary resources allocated to the department.
8. The Director hires, mentors, supervises, and evaluates the coaching and athletics staff and is indirectly responsible for all other department employees.
9. The Director has oversight responsibility for the NAIA National Baseball Tournament, as well as any post-season LC State-hosted competitions.
10. The Director serves on the President's Cabinet and Council.
11. Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support recruitment and retention of students.
