This role is responsible for driving global strategic initiatives for Cepheid, focused primarily on but not limited to Operations. The role is a key partner to the Operations leadership team and the person must be comfortable working with all levels of the organization from entry level through VP and SVP levels. The candidate is expected to be a fully self-sufficient Program Manager and Strategy Advisor to the senior-level leaders at Cepheid.

The person will a self-starter that confirms a problem statement, documents goals, success criteria and independently leads cross-functional teams with limited direction to implement process improvements, drive cross-organizational change, and ensure that tasks and dependencies are completed successfully and according to documented project plan. The person will drive accountability while maintaining collaborative working relationships and ensure sustainable Lean Manufacturing practices across all projects.

This position is part of the Manufacturing Engineering organization and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA as a HYBRID role (on-site 3 days/wk.). At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead strategic initiatives to strengthen competencies across PMO and Cepheid Operations
  • The role is expected to provide strong leadership in a matrix environment to promote best practices in managing interrelated projects and programs to ensure successful delivery.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, usually composed of 10 cross-functional individuals, to define the overall project plans and ensure completion of deliverables on time.
  • Define, measure and communicate project progress to senior leaders (VPs, Directors): Identify and proactively manage risks, track and ensure on time delivery of project deliverables, develop full scale project plan including project tasks and resource requirements, manage all project documentation, manage communication with external and internal stakeholders, align project's objectives and outcomes with Cepheid business goals.
  • Continuously improve best practices for project execution and talent development for PMO. Act as a resource and mentor to less experienced colleagues.
  • Contribute to improvement and implementation of cross functional internal processes.
  • Embrace and apply DBS tools to all projects (e.g., CM, VSM, TPI, VPM, DM, SW)

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • BS in Science, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Engineering and prefer 20+ years of experience.
  • Significant DBS practitioner/ lean manufacturing practices experience
  • Prefer 15+ years independent project management leadership.
  • Prefer 10+ Process improvement experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestic and international.
  • Experience to lead through influence and direct reporting relationships

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • PMP or DBS certification is highly preferred
  • Masters or Advanced degree strongly preferred
  • Medical device and/or In Vitro Diagnostic product experience

The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $215,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
