PURPOSE: Individual needed to execute the Electrical and controls Engineering design, documentation & support functions for robotic welding and cutting system products. This position deals primarily with standardized cell manufacturing, development, and continuous improvement of these systems in addition to support for New Product Development and customization to standard platforms as required.

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

• Serve as the assigned lead electrical controls Engineer for multiple customer projects simultaneously.
• Responsible for all aspects of electrical controls Engineering on projects including design, documentation, costing, bill of materials, and commissioning support for the assembly and installation teams.
• Performance Measured based on milestone attainment performance, quality, and budget variance performance.
• Responsible for overall robotic cell safety and ensuring the risk assessment is documented for each assigned system
• Ability and desire to increase knowledge to create electrical designs for automation equipment including PLC hardware / software selection & programming, motion control hardware / software selection & programming, schematic diagrams, pneumatic / hydraulic hardware selection and schematic diagrams, control system drawings, wiring techniques and electrical troubleshooting procedures
• Innovative, creative design approach with a goal of minimizing total cost and compressing product timeline by embracing virtual design and commissioning tools
• Strong advocate of standardized controls designs to reduce the number of components used and simplify inventory

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Three year experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to design industrial machine control systems including safety systems utilizing 2-D CAD, Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical or Solidworks/EPDM preferred with willingness to become proficient is others as needed
• Electrical circuit design and analysis experience.
• Proficiently create, read, and interpret electrical prints.
• Ability to create clean and easy to understand build floor schematics, interconnection diagrams, and assembly and commissioning instructions.
• Experience in writing, de-bug, and commissioning PLC logic and HMI code
• Ability to develop and document procedures and work instructions for others technical resources to use
• Excellent electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Proficient at ladder logic programming
• AB Compact Logic
• Fanuc PMC
• Collaborative Robot Experience
• FANUC Robot control system knowledge
• Familiarity with Robotic automation safety - RIAC knowledge
• Familiarity with Electrical standards (ANSI, NFPA, ISO)
• Welding process knowledge (MIG, TIG, Laser)
