Job Description

The Equipment and Materials manager plays a critical role in Eurofins DPT supporting the operations at 11 locations, overseeing 2,000+ pieces of equipment, and managing the performance and development of a team of 5-8 people.

Equipment and Materials Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Overall:
    • The Equipment and Materials manager is responsible for the overall management of Equipment Strategy, Equipment Maintenance, Facilities, Laboratory construction projects, Materials Handling, Department Quality Events, and maintenance of department Standard Operating Procedures.
    • This role ensures the continuation of daily business operations across multiple national locations in a 24/7 lab environment.
  • Management:
    • Oversees a team of 5-8 employees.
    • Ability to lead and motivate a team while setting clear and ambitious goals.
    • Coaches, develops, and evaluates staff performance, drives continuous department improvement, and ensures all established work instructions, standard operating procedures, and product specifications are consistently followed.
    • Tracks, trends, and reports department metrics, identifies variances, and implements process improvements across all areas of responsibility.
  • Equipment Strategy:
    • Leads and develops the equipment budget cycle for Eurofins DPT, working with each laboratory manager and the finance team.
    • Ability to maintain and grow vendor relationships through vendor negotiations, new equipment needs, and calibration requirements.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    • The Equipment and Materials manager will manager a small team of equipment specialists.
    • The candidate will ensure that DPT assets are calibrated and maintained properly, on-time, and with the correct vendor oversight.
    • The Equipment and Materials manager will work with Eurofins IT to roll out a new asset calibration maintenance system.
    • The role ensures timely and accurate completion of all routine and preventive equipment maintenance including calibrations, repair, and retention of associated records.
  • Materials Handling:
    • The Equipment and Materials Manager will manage a team of materials handlers/inventory specialists.
    • The materials team works closely with the purchasing team to manage physical inventory counts, purchasing volumes, and maintaining correct levels of stock in the lab and warehouse.
    • The manager will also support the materials handlers/inventory specialists team in maintaining an organized and clean warehouse with a strategic flow of materials into the lab.
  • Facilities:
    • Oversees a variety of routine corrective, and scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance activities on building, equipment, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems to ensure safe and efficient continuation of facility equipment operations.
  • Laboratory construction projects:
    • The Equipment and Materials manager will routinely manage large capital expenditure projects to help improve our laboratories.
    • The work may include interacting with construction contractors and working through tenant improvement projects with Eurofins DPT building landlords.
    • The candidate must have the ability to effectively manage project teams including defining, developing, and implementing projects across multiple areas of responsibility.
  • Quality Events:
    • Ensures equipment and facilities comply with all applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies including Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) regulations and the Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
    • Meets basic expectations of Eurofins DPT's quality management system, including, but not limited to good workmanship, adherence to standard operational procedures, training, good documentation practices, and accurate recordkeeping so the company may meet its stated quality policy and objectives.
  • Standard Operating Procedures:
    • Ensures that equipment and facilities standard operating procedures are kept up to date, and the relevant team members are appropriately trained and knowledgeable in the procedures.

Qualifications

Basic Minimum Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3-6 years of materials or equipment management experience preferred.
  • Related supply chain and/or equipment certifications preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint (SQL/Power BI preferred but not required).
  • Minimum 3-6 years of supply chain or equipment management experience in a hospital environment (CMS) or laboratory that is GMP/FDA regulated, preferred, but not required.
  • Experience managing a budget and capital expenditures through a budget cycle, and effectively summarizing variances to budget.
  • Experience with inventory management, materials receiving, and warehouse strategy.
  • Ability to effectively manager master data related to equipment, facilities, and capital expenditure projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments to support operations, purchasing, finance, and quality.
  • Ability to work in controlled environments utilizing aseptic techniques.
  • Ability to work within Quality systems under regulatory requirements.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

  • This laboratory carefully maintains all hazardous materials. All employees must abide by Eurofins DPT's Safety and Exposure procedures. This includes using the provided safety clothing and equipment

Additional Information

Position is full-time, Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm,withovertime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Centennial, COare encouraged to apply.
