Position Summary

Based at Oakwood Suites & Studios Dupont Circle Washington, D.C. you have an important responsibility - but like all positions in Oakwood, you are not alone! We are all here to assist by supporting you with great practices within our teams and our professional spheres of influence. So, as you implement policies, programs, initiatives and directives, we will stand supportive to become best in class. We need you to manage a diverse range of situations including our owner relations, our pre-opening programs, our general managers and their teams, training, strategy and of course property performance. Sounds a lot but we know you are capable due to your resourcefulness, excellent communication skills and leadership ability. It's a dynamic role that also offers an opportunity to have some fun along the way.

A day in the life of an Oakwood Front Desk Supervisor

We don't expect every day to be filled with all that is listed here and we are sure there will be additional surprises along the way, but here are some of the key responsibilities we need you to own and master, bearing in mind that our key priorities are to become the operator of choice for owners, the preferred place to stay for our guests and the company all hospitality professional desire to work for;

  • Assist in the supervision of all Front Office operations to include, but not limited to, guest service and registration (check-in/check-out), room inventory and availability, guest service standards and initiatives and product quality
  • Assist in the supervision of team member performance
  • Assist with the training of team members
  • Assist in monitoring and assessing service and satisfaction trends, evaluate and address issues and make improvements accordingly
  • Oversee the VIP guest process including, but not limited to, reviewing VIP reservations and ensuring smooth check-in/check-out
  • Assist with up-selling techniques to promote hotel services and facilities to maximize room occupancy and overall revenue

And the rest of the time....
  • Inspect guest suites for cleanliness as needed
  • Ensure team members have current knowledge of hotel products, services, facilities, events, pricing and policies and knowledge of the local area and events
What it takes to be a really great Front Desk Supervisor
  • Previous hospitality experience
  • Previous experience in multi-family is an asset
  • Great communication skills, both oral and written
  • Customer service skills
  • Problem resolution skills

The Small Print:

Whilst the above list is quite extensive, from time to time there may be new projects, shifts in strategy, changes in industry trends that require us to rethink our responsibilities. The role can be an evolving one and you will need to be flexible with change if not the instigator of it.

At Oakwood, our Front Desk Supervisor have the responsibility to drive guest experience. However, our culture is one of collaboration and as such, as part of the team, we are to provide support to the property based on our expertise.

Your role may sometimes deal with very confidential matters and discretion is a key trait. You may be confronted with many sensitive issues and if your decision has an impact on the brand, then leadership team will need to be advised in advance.
