The Midwest Environmental business is booming! Our Farmington Hills, MI office is looking for a Graduate EHS Compliance Engineer to join our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) compliance team. In this role, you will help to ensure compliance with environmental, chemical management, waste management and permit regulations for GHD clients across the region. Responsibilities of this position will be but are not limited to:

  • Conduct environmental monitoring at remediation sites (environmental inspection and sampling).
  • Assist with environmental compliance tasks including, air emissions calculations, permit applications, regulatory applicability determinations, EPCRA reporting.
  • Understand and apply federal, state, and local environmental requirements.
  • Prepare Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs)
  • Travel to job sites (instate or out of state) 0 to 30% of the time based on client location
  • Serve as liaison with external and governmental agencies
  • Perform inspections/assessments and provide recommendations on identified compliance issues
  • Procure services or materials for the administration and implementation of environmental programs
  • Evaluate new regulations and coordinate compliance plans
What successful candidates will bring to the team:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field of study
  • 0 to 2+ years of experience
  • Engineer-In-Training Certificate preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently
  • Ability to diplomatically handle sensitive situations with regulatory agencies, the public, and company personnel at all levels
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong data analysis and data management skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel job sites as needed
