Summary:
The laboratory of Dr. Pawel Kalinski in the Department of Immunology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is looking for an HRI Scientist (PhD or MD required) to work on NCI-funded research projects identifying the mechanisms of the regulation of antigen uptake and cross presentation by dendritic cells (DC) aiming to develop more effective immunotherapies for cancer. The position will focus on DC and tumor cell modulation working with advanced in vitro models, such as in vitro sensitization, analysis of DC presented peptides and TCR analysis.

The HRI Scientist will be responsible for leading and assisting in the execution of studies using human in vitro and (optionally) mouse in vitro and in vivo models of immune cell function and cancer immunotherapy. The ability of experimental agents and treatments to boost spontaneously arising and therapy-induced anti-tumor immunity will also be explored. Additional responsibility includes involvement in the integration of project results with preclinical development, testing and eventual generation of DC vaccines for clinical trials. The selected candidate will be involved in preparation of scientific manuscripts and grant applications, as well as mentoring junior members of the group.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the areas of T cell recognition of antigenic targets, dendritic cell biology, cell and tissue cultures and the analysis of human immune cells using flow cytometry, RT-PCR, ELISA and ELISPOT.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience

1. M.D. or PhD in an appropriate field; or
2. Master's degree in an appropriate field

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Cancer Institute as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have a PhD in Immunology; expertise with long-term human cell culture and cancer immunology; track record of publication in cancer immunology and/or immunotherapy; understanding of the adaptive immune response including the roles of T cells and DCs; excellent scientific communication skills. They will also have the ability to work in a group setting, excellent written adn oral scientific communication skills and a track record of publication in cancer immunology and/or immunotherapy.
