The Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) Nurse Home Visitor (NHV) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing services to women and their families eligible for the NFP Program in the client's home or other community setting. Nurse home visitors are responsible for maintaining the highest standards in clinical nursing practice and adherence to the NFP model, and to policies, procedures, guidelines and standards of NFP and of the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Position is 70% clinical practice, 20% teaching, and 10% service. The teaching role allows for integration of BSN level nursing students into the NHV service role.

Job Duties:

    Provide home visits to women and their families eligible for the NFP program. Adhere to nursing process and the NFP model of home visitation. Carry a caseload of up to 20+ clients. Serve as a clinical preceptor for BSN level nursing students during home visits and care conferences. Support policies, procedures, guidelines and standards of NFP and the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. As requested/required, participate in community coalition and advisory board activities in support of the NFP. Develop and maintain community relationships to support client referrals. Maintain current CPR certification for adults, children, and infants. Complete all required NFP education. Develop therapeutic relationships, utilize concepts of reflection and motivational interviewing with women and their families in a home visiting environment. Perform home visiting in accordance with the NFP Model Elements and NFP Visit-to-Visit guidelines. Follow nursing process in implementing NFP into nursing practice. Assess physical, emotional, social and environmental needs of women and their families as they relate to the NFP domains. Assist women and their families in establishing goals and outcomes. Provide education, support and referral resources in assisting women and their families in attaining their targeted goals. Consult and collaborate with other professionals involved in providing services to women and families. Formulate nursing diagnosis based on nursing assessment and client goals and evaluate client progress toward stated goals and NFP outcomes. Plan home visits in accordance with client goals and NFP outcomes. Actively engage in professional development to meet all NFP Nurse Home Visitor competency requirements. Utilize reflective practice in supervisory sessions. Attend and participate in case conferences and team meetings. Provide information to support staff for timely and accurate data input to the NFP performance management system. Participate in quality improvement efforts. Perform related duties as assigned or required.

Responsibilities in College of Nursing:
  • Directly teach and evaluate nursing students in the clinical setting.
  • Coordinate with lead faculty of clinical courses to design and schedule student experiences.
  • Attend faculty meetings at the request of department chair or dean.
  • Able to travel to Denver for all face-to-face education sessions.

Work Location: Hybrid (10% remote, 90% on-site)

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $80,000 - $85,500 per year

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. The University of Colorado Colorado Springs offers excellent benefits, some of which include:

Employees contribute 5% of their annual compensation. CU doubles that and contributes 10% Tuition Assistant Benefit available to you or a dependent Paid Parental Leave after 12 months of employment

This position is dependent on the availability of auxiliary revenues and external grant funding. Funding is currently expected to last one year, though funding has been renewed every year that it has been requested.

Tentative Search Timeline:
    Priority will be given to applications submitted by March 1, 2023. However, this posting will remain open until filled. The potential dates for virtual interviews with the search committee will be the week of March 13, 2023. The potential dates for interviews with the supervisor and appointing authority will be the week of April 3, 2023. The potential employee start date is May 2023.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
    Registered Nurse with active, unencumbered Colorado nursing license or a licensee of the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) Bachelor's degree in Nursing Master of Science in Nursing or health related field within 60 days of hire Current BLS certification Vaccinations current that are required for healthcare providers and up-to-date on COVID vaccination Valid driver's license and insured automobile that is used for home visits

Preferred Qualifications:
    Two years of recent experience in maternal/child health, public health, or mental/behavioral nursing Previous teaching experience Home visiting experience

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be frequently required to stand. Employee is occasionally required to walk and sit. Tasks may involve hearing within normal range. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 20 pounds.
