POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Network and Server Supervisor, this individual is responsible for the design, planning, setup, monitoring, maintenance and security of CCA's IT infrastructure including servers (physical, virtual), data centers, enterprise applications, and cloud services. This position will provide hands-on design and implementation of IT solutions, routine maintenance of IT infrastructure, backup management, day-to-day administration of IT systems, support junior IT staff, and work closely with Colorado Community College System central IT on larger projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong technical background and understanding of fundamental IT, server, and network technologies.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to communicate professionally and effectively with clients and colleagues of different backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and routine tasks and remain organized.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve most technical challenges independently using the resources available.
  • Ability to work independently with IT vendors, contractors, and other college IT departments within the CCCS system.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and development of technical knowledge.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, administration, and support of college information systems including, but not limited to, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365 and Azure services, Windows Server, Linux servers, Citrix XenDesktop, VMWare ESXi, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft System Center.
  • Administration and support of backup systems and software including, but not limited to, development and implementation of effective backup schedules, disaster recovery procedures, and testing procedures.
  • Support and work closely with Colorado Community College System central IT on state-level projects.
  • Monitor, assess, and mitigate server and platform security related issues.
  • Serve as Tier 2 technical support for complex user issues.
  • Assist the Network Infrastructure Administrator to maintain network and telephony functionality.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications & Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree or at least four years of experience in IT systems administration or progressively advanced IT (experience may be substituted for formal education on a one-for-one-year basis).
  • At least four years managing Windows and Linux servers.
  • At least four years managing Microsoft Active Directory.
  • At least two years managing virtual server environments (VMware preferred).


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Microsoft, VMWare, and/or other industry certifications.
  • Experience managing Citrix XenDesktop or other VDI platform (e.g., VMware Horizon).
  • Experience with scripting and automation of installations and routine tasks.
  • Experience working in a higher education computing environment.
