Overview

The Junior Mortgage Processor is responsible for management of the credit union mortgage products. They ensure timely and accurate processing/settlement of all first mortgage and equity loans and serve as a point of contact for members upon receipt of mortgage loan applications. The Junior Mortgage Processor completes mortgage loans by monitoring the collection, certification, and preparation the mortgage loan documentation. Additionally, this role is required to schedule and complete mortgage loan closings.

Responsibilities

  • Import, review and set up new online applications
  • Electronically create, review and issue applicable disclosures within required time frames
  • Request required documentation and upload received items to the appropriate loan files and make applicable changes to the data referenced in the loan application when needed
  • Submit requests for appraisal inspections, credit reports, credit report supplements, mortgage insurance, flood certifications, title work and other necessary documentation
  • Complete verification of employment, rent and mortgages
  • Submit requests for tax transcripts, PUD Insurance and homeowners insurance along with verifications of employment, deposits and mortgages
  • Submit loan data to a third party vendor to complete pre-closing reviews
  • Review loan files for completion, accuracy and neatness prior to assigning to a Loan Officer and/or Processor
  • Assist Processing team members to ensure all loans meet compliance requirements and are processed in a timely manner
  • Assist with front desk coverage
  • Provide assistance to the processing and closing teams ensuring all 10 day items are complete
  • Monitors new applications received along with the 10 day queue to ensure each assignment loan is disclosed and assigned and the queue is actively worked and remains caught up
  • Completes other duties as assigned
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
Qualifications

Required
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 1 year of sales or customer service experience
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct management supervision
  • Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness as a self-starter
  • Must be able to work onsite in Herndon, VA Headquarters
  • Must be able to work the hours of M-F 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Mus be able to work 2-3 Saturday's per quarter 9am-1pm
Preferred
  • Financial institution or mortgage related experience
  • Knowledge of Credit Union policies and procedures relating to mortgage operations
  • Knowledge of federal regulations and compliance issues such as RESPA, REG Z, HMDA, etc.
