Summary Statement

Idaho IceWorld is currently searching for friendly and enthusiastic Hockey Instructors to staff our season. These positions will instruct and coach youth and adult hockey classes as well as assist with youth hockey leagues.

We are currently recruiting for the following positions:

  • Junior Hockey Instructor-$14/hr
    • Open to all candidates age 16 or older
    • This position is designated as safety-sensitive and is subject to testing requirements. (See Requirements Section)
    • This position is designated as At-Will
  • Senior Hockey Instructor - $20/hr
    • Open to all candidates age 18 or older
    • This position is designated as safety-sensitive and is subject to testing requirements. (See Requirements Section)
    • This position is designated as At-Will

    Essential Functions

    Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time. Total Percentage = 100%

    Junior Hockey Instructor-
    Instructs and coaches adult and youth hockey classes and teams, follows plans from the Hockey Department, prepares ice for practice by checking nets and ice for safety hazards, and mobilizes on-ice training aids. Answers questions from parents, guardians, and players regarding practice plans; resolves problems or refers to appropriate personnel for answer or resolution. (100%)

    Senior Hockey Instructor-
    Instructs and coaches adult and youth hockey classes and teams. Follows plans from the Hockey Department. Prepares ice for practice by checking nets and ice for safety hazards. (60%)

    Answers questions from parents, guardians, and players regarding practice plans. (40%)

    Requirements

    Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
    • Senior Hockey Instructor-5 years experience playing league hockey
    • Junior Hockey Instructor-3 years experience playing league hockey
    Working knowledge of:
    • Ice hockey rules and regulations
    • Fundamentals of ice hockey to include skating, shooting, passing, etc.
    • General customer service techniques
    Ability to:
    • Interpret and apply various rules and regulations
    • Maintain good relations with coaches, officials, parents, and players
    • Display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations
    • Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
    • Complete assignments in a timely fashion
    • Understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations
    • Maintain prompt and regular attendance
    • Perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation
    Licensing And Other Requirements
    • USA Hockey registered member
    • Willing to become a level 1 USA Hockey Certified coach, which includes continuing coaching education
    Special Requirements
    Applicants must be able to pass:
    • City of Boise background check processes including a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation
    • Drug-Free Workplace: In accordance with the City of Boise Drug-Free Workplace Regulation, this position is designated as safety-sensitive and is subject to testing requirements including Post Offer Applicant Testing, Random Testing, Reasonable Suspicion, Post-Accident, etc. Applicants will be required to submit to screening for illegal drug use prior to hiring. Appointment to this position is contingent upon a negative pre-employment drug test.

    Physical Efforts
    While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. Also, the employee is frequently pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds. The noise level is frequently moderate and rarely loud. Work includes the sensory ability to touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, run, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity. Additional physical efforts include: position will frequently be skating on ice.

    Working Environment
    The work environment will include inside conditions and outdoor weather conditions. Work includes protected exposure to bodily fluids.
