This position is responsible for collecting samples at various locations throughout the treatment process, as well as, the effluent. Analyze process samples using in-house lab equipment. Submit compliance samples to an outside lab for analysis. Enter all data into electronic database or software program for tracking/management/reporting. Review all analytical data for compliance and/or adherence to key performance indicators. Learn and understand the various types of lab equipment and analysis methods to ensure results are accurate and representative of the nature of the sample being analyzed. Communicate sample results and potential compliance or process issues with operations personnel.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collect process control samples for analysis using in-house lab equipment.

  • Collect effluent compliance samples, per state-issued discharge permit, and submit samples to an outside laboratory for analysis, including lab-required paperwork.

  • Input analytical data into the electronic database and/or software for data tracking/management/reporting.

  • Interpret, document, and act on laboratory analysis results per permit limits or key performance indicators (KPI).

  • Notify concerned parties in the event of non-compliant analytical results or deviance from KPI.

  • Management & tracking of laboratory reagents, spare parts, and supplies

  • Perform required calibration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation per manufacturer guidelines.

  • Ensure the traceability of laboratory analysis results.

  • Implementation and management of laboratory SOP's and QC.

  • All personnel are responsible for general housekeeping of restrooms, control room, lab, lunch room, office as needed



Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Chemistry, Laboratory Science, Environmental Studies or related field with experience in water analysis

  • Must have a thorough understanding of lab testing procedures and equipment, with a strong attention to detail. Experience in a water treatment lab preferred.

  • Ability to understand water treatment processes, and associate test results with those processes

  • Must be proficient in MS Office/ Excel. Experience with Google Platforms is a plus. Experience with HACH WIMS preferred.

The job holder could be exposed to extreme weather conditions (extreme heat and cold), burns, chemicals, dangerous machinery, dirt and dust, electrical hazardous, grease and oil, loud noises, vibrations, steam and high levels of moisture, and other hazardous conditions. This position requires the job holder to lift and/or carry up to 75 pounds, climb a vertical ladder up to 30 feet, stand for long period of time, walk on uneven surfaces, regular bending, climb onto and exit a forklift in a safe manner, use of extension ladders on a daily basis, ability to work a 12 hour shift, ability to climb into and maneuver body in tight spaces.
