Summary:
A full-time research technician position is immediately available in Dr. Sanidas laboratory at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Sanidas lab is involved in investigating new and effective therapies for estrogen receptor-positive metastatic beast cancer. Our group is interested in elucidating novel mechanisms of resistance to targeted cancer therapeutics such as CDK inhibitors. In addition to this, using state-of-the-art technology that includes RNA-sequencing, ChIP-sequencing, Micro-C sequencing and tandem mass tag (TMT) multiplexing Mass Spectrometry, we are investigating the molecular mechanism of action of the Retinoblastoma tumor suppressor protein (RB). Examples of our scientific focus can be find in these publications: Sanidas et al. Molecular Cell 2019, Krishnan et al. Journal of Cell Biology 2022.

We seek a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in pursuing a future academic career in science or medicine. This is an ideal position for a recent graduate who wants to gain an intense research experience before pursuing graduate school. The candidate will take responsibility in basic science and translational research projects under close supervision of post-doctoral research fellows in the lab, as well as Dr. Ioannis Sanidas (PI).

As reaserch assistant, you will have varied roles within the lab. You will be introduced and trained on the following techniques, depending on the experimental need. We encourage you to apply, regardless of prior experience in these specific laboratory techniques:
• Tissue culture techniques: maintenance of mouse/human cell lines in culture, cryopreservation, drug treatments, plasmid transfections, lentiviral transduction.
• In vitro assessment of drug response in cancer cell lines.
• Perform standard molecular biology techniques (Western blotting, PCR, cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, CRISPR).
• Library preparation for Next Generation Sequencing.
• Interpretation of experimental results.
• Interest on establishing new and optimizing existing techniques in the lab.

Starting salary for this position is $36,268 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in a science-related field; or
2. Associate's degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time laboratory experience.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will have a bachelors degree or an associates degree with 2 years of experience, they must be familiar with personal computer and related laboratory information systems, and have experience with quantitative and qualitative techniques to analyze laboratory fluid or tissue samples. They will also have prior research experience in a molecular biology laboratory with knowledge of Microsoft Office. They will also be self motivated, excited about conducting research in cancer biology, reliable meticulous in record keeping, and able to work independently as well as with a team. They will also possess excellent organizational and analytical skills.
