POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician is responsible for all facets of the preventive maintenance and repair of airplanes to ensure aircraft are airworthy and all technical aspects are documented properly as well as the first point of contact and authority oversight for the AMTs as it pertains to aircraft maintenance.

Job Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

  • Monitor maintenance technicians in the performance of their assignments to ensure that proper procedures and required tooling are utilized in the performance of maintenance, preventive maintenance, repairs and alterations on Company aircraft, and work is accomplished and properly documented per Company and FAA requirements.
  • Manage task completion of mechanics at each shift change and verify that completed tasks and all partial work accomplished is properly recorded by the outgoing personnel prior to their departure and incoming personnel are properly briefed on any incomplete accomplished tasks.
  • Review the completed work package (s) and or logbook entries including installed parts tags and service forms for completion, proper signoff with authorizing references recorded in accordance with Company procedures, before forwarding the work package (s), log page (s) with service forms, parts tags and any authorizing document to Quality Control.
  • Ensure that mechanics do not exceed the duty limitations imposed by 14 CFR 121.377.
  • Inspect the overall condition of the facility and grounds on a regular basis to determine what work, repairs, cleaning etc. needs to be done.
  • Assist in completing special projects or assignments as the need arises.
  • The Lead Mechanic will assign the performance of duties associated with all specified responsibilities to any qualified assistant.
  • Perform or supervise the maintenance, preventive maintenance or alteration of an aircraft or a part thereof, for which he is rated (but excluding major repairs to, and major alterations of, propellers, and any repair to, or alteration of, instruments), and may perform additional duties in accordance with 14 CFR 65.85, 65.87, and 65.95. However, he may not supervise the maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alteration of, or approve and return to service, any aircraft or appliance, or part thereof, for which he is rated unless he has satisfactorily performed the work concerned at an earlier date.
  • Verify the work as specified on Company inspection and/or maintenance forms as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and sign off all work performed at the time the work is completed.
  • Notify the Maintenance Supervisor immediately of any condition that may arise that could present him with a problem of parts, materials, airworthiness or workmanship.
  • Ensuring the work of all personnel working with him is in accordance with the policies and procedures set forth in this General Maintenance Manual, for recording all work performed and assuming responsibility for that work as indicated by affixing his signature, license type and number where required.   • The Lead Mechanic may be delegated by the Director of Quality Control for the performing of inspections and required inspections. When performing these inspections and required inspections, the mechanic must not in any way perform the actual task he is assigned to inspect. (GMM Chapter 12, Section 1; Chapter 12, Section 4)
  • When performing maintenance tasks that require inspection, summoning the assigned Inspector to perform the inspection required or advise the Maintenance Supervisor that an inspection is required. (GMM Chapter 12, Section 4) [14CFR 121.369(b)]
  • When an assigned task is incomplete or work is interrupted, record and sign all the steps that have been properly completed and advise the Maintenance Supervisor of the status of the task. (GMM Chapter 5, Section 21)
  • When assigned to Airworthiness Release duties, reviews the DMIs and completed logbook entries including installed parts tags and service forms for completion, proper signoff with authorizing references recorded in accordance with Company procedures, before signing the Airworthiness Release in the aircraft log, and submitting the log page (s) with service forms, parts tags and any authorizing document used to the Duty Supervisor. (GMM Chapter 4, Section 11) [14 CFR 121.709(b)]
  • Perform or supervise tasks associated with meeting aircraft at transit stations, including checks on aircraft maintenance logs, and responding to discrepancies entered in the logbook
  • Performs routine and non-routine maintenance on aircraft
  • References all Maintenance Manuals- Illustrated Parts Catalog, Structural Repair Manual, Component Maintenance Manuals, and the wiring diagrams to perform work on aircraft
  • Completes required paperwork accurately using procedures set forth in the General Maintenance Manual (GMM)
  • Uses only approved and certified hardware, parts, and equipment to be installed or used on aircraft
  • Maintains Amerijet facilities and equipment as directed by the Leadership team
  • Upholds safety and security awareness of Team members and assets
  • Ability to obtain and maintain special qualifications such as Quality Control RII, Airworthiness release, taxi run up, CAT III authorization, and Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM).
  • Will assure that work is accomplished in the best workmanship manner and that an airworthy condition exists on all work performed by them.
  • Will notify their leader immediately of any condition that may arise that could present a problem of parts, materials, airworthiness or workmanship.
  • Will have sufficient hand tools to perform his duties as required.
  • Will be responsible to the Director of Maintenance for the accomplishment of all work assigned to him in accordance with policies and procedures established by Amerijet, Manufacturer and the FAA.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures, and risk controls
  • Upholding Amerijet's safety performance metric goals and understanding how they relate to their duties and responsibilities.
  • Consistently follows Company policies and procedures (including governmental and safety) and departmental Standard Operating Procedures

Equipment:

  • Computer and other office equipment
  • Obtain tools listed on the Minimum Tool List within thirty (30) days of employment
  • Operate lift trucks, snorkel lift, boom lift and tractor after attending training
  • Issued reflective safety vest, ear protection and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to use handheld two-way radios, headsets and/or phone

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma.
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Min. two (2) years of experience working as an aircraft maintenance technician. Preferably Boeing 767/757/777 qualified with certification and training records.
  • Ability to drive tugs, trucks, taxi aircraft, lift trucks, snorkel lift, boom lift and tractor and/or other maintenance vehicles.
  • Familiarity with accessing online aircraft manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both oral and written communication.
  • Ability to frequently crawl, bend, kneel, climb, stoop and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a team environment.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets Amerijet's insurance standards.
  • Ability to remain alert to moving vehicles, aircraft and situational awareness.
  • Available for travel.
  • Willingness to work in 8-hr or 10-hr shift covering 24/7.
  • Ability to obtain a SIDA badge.
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position will not have direct reports but will require overseeing shift activities and providing training for new team members.

Language Skills:

The employee must possess good interpersonal and communications skills, be able to effectively work with others, respond to questions from managers and co-workers.

Physical Activities and Requirements of the Position:

The employee is regularly required to stand, frequently required walk, use hand to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Required to work in confined spaces. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; move about the facility.

Must be able to work well under pressure and in extreme climatic conditions.

This position may require limited travel incl. outside of the USA.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Exposed to high levels of noise, dust, vibration and chemical fumes.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds without mechanical assistance.
  • Able to bend, twist, squat and lift.
  • Able to access and work in all areas of the aircraft, including confined areas.
  • Able to climb on ladders and platforms and work at heights up to fifty feet from the ground.
  • Able to work in extreme climatic conditions.
