Job Summary

The Department of Earth and Space Sciences at Columbus State University invites applications for the position of Lecturer: Environmental Science - Hydrology. We are seeking an environmental scientist who will teach Hydrology and other environmental science courses. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring CSU's student body. The position is full-time and will begin in August 2024.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Environmental Science. A normal teaching load is 15 hours per semester.

The successful candidate will be able to foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration; work in continuous improvement of academic programs; demonstrate exceptional ability to function as part of a team with university faculty; and engage in practices that support the University's focus on student engagement and active learning.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have completed at least master's degree in environmental science or related science discipline by time of appointment or have 18 credit hours in the discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include: Demonstrated effective teaching at the university level (particularly field-based courses).; Qualifications to teach Hydrology, Water Resources Management, and other environmental science courses.; Interest in/expertise in sustainability, data science and/or spatial analytics (GIS).

Proposed Salary

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Conditions of Employment

  • A credit check completed for Positions of Trust and or approved departmental Purchase Card usage;
  • Pre-employment drug testing for positions with high-risk responsibilities.
  • Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive a Columbus State University fleet vehicle or other vehicle designated as a fleet vehicle. A successful drug screening will be required as a condition of employment a randomly thereafter.

For Faculty Hires: Final candidates will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s). Those candidates trained by a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation.
