Caterpillar's Building Construction Products (BCP) division is hiring a Machine Sales & Service Representative for small and compact equipment. This role is part of our sales organization but is a hybrid role requiring technical machine knowledge/hands on machine work experience in addition to sales skills. This territory-based role travels frequently (50%), managing dealer relationships to market and support BCP equipment.

Role Summary : Deliver the business plan, assure customer value by consulting with Dealers to market and support Caterpillar products and services, and assist in the development of Dealer sales capabilities.

What You'll Do

  • Act as Sales liaison among Dealers, customers, and other Caterpillar personnel.
  • Drive and support Dealer Product Problem Management process; including in proactively identifying and resolving complex technical product issues, failure analysis, identifying interim technical solutions, communicating with engineering, and goodwill decisions to maximize customer experience.
  • Regularly interface with dealers and customers to minimize the commercial impact of customer complaints, ensure customers receive fair value and promote additional customer touch points and future sales in concert with dealer personnel.
  • Provide technical guidance and counsel dealers on presentations designed to inform customers of service advantages. Mentor team members on communication, problem solving and sharing technical expertise.
  • Be accountable for achieving targets for machine market share, sales to end users, participation rate, attachment sales, and new customer growth.
  • Recommend alternative courses of action and make timely decisions to deliver results.
  • Assist Dealers in executing growth plans that include a strategy for sales coverage, merchandising program usage, marketing plans, and a product pricing plan.
  • Understand various profit streams and how to best generate profit throughout the product lifecycle.
What You Have
  • Prior sales, service or engineering experience in the construction, heavy machinery, or related industries
  • Product technical knowledge to provides effective solutions to moderate technical challenges
  • Relationship management skills and effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and stay organized
  • Customer focus skills to align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage information in creating customized customer solutions
  • Product technical knowledge to provide effective solutions to moderate technical challenges
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar Building Construction Products (BCP) equipment or other industry-related products
  • Prior field based or dealer facing experience
  • Technical knowledge and experience troubleshooting construction equipment product issues
  • Ability to influence dealers, customers, and internal Cat employees through value selling and constructive negotiation techniques
Location & Travel
  • This role will work from Phoenix, AZ but travel to a multi-state territory
  • Relocation assistance is available to Phoenix, AZ
  • This role travels extensively (50%) and will be provided with a company vehicle and mobile stipend
