Job Summary

This is a full-time position working under the general supervision of the Maintenance Mechanic Lead Worker or designee. Responsible for the general and technical maintenance and repair of all facilities, equipment and furnishings involving a variety of building trades. Perform assigned tasks to maintain the physical operations of the college, aesthetics of all facilities, and ensure a safe environment of students and staff. Work includes working with skilled tradesmen, helpers, and laborers in the daily maintenance tasks, as well as emergency repairs that are required to be completed.

Job Duties

  • 20% - * Maintain and repair various HVAC systems and controls. (Chilled water, VRF, Geothermal, Hybrid geothermal systems, with pneumatic, electronic controls) - (Essential)
  • 20% - * Preventive Maintenance on heating and air-conditioning systems to include adding refrigerant; washing coils; changing filters, belts, bearings, and electrical components. - (Essential)
  • 15% - * Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, or install all associated with electrical systems, (i.e. electrical circuits, fixtures, outlets, timers, motor controls, electric motors, etc.) - (Essential)
  • 10% - * Maintain plumbing systems to include fixtures, piping, water heaters, wastewater and drainage. - (Essential)
  • 10% - * Perform planned and unplanned maintenance tasks. - (Essential)
  • 3% - * Maintain all underground utilities. - (Essential)
  • 7% - * Maintain all door locks and door hardware including records, repairs, and cutting keys. - (Essential)
  • 5% - * Collaborating and working with outside contractors. - (Marginal)
  • 5% - * Maintain facility finishes throughout the campus. - (Marginal)
  • 5% - * Knowledge of the department and work area's mission and its appropriate application. * Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of supervising authorities. - (Marginal)

Minimum Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent and vocational training related to maintenance systems.
* 3+ years commercial and industrial maintenance experience.
* HVAC Universal certification or the ability to obtain a HVAC Universal certification within six months of hire.
* Position requires a working knowledge of a variety of complex systems in order to readily perform a wide range of maintenance tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

* Maintenance-related certifications and licensures.
* Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods.
* Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment, as necessary.
* Valid motor vehicle operator's license if required.
* Some experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Strong interpersonal and public relations communication skills; ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal skills.
* Ability to perform basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; ability to perform calculations related to necessary maintenance and repairs.
* Ability to make decisions where precedents may not be established.
* Customer service, time management, and organizational skills required.
* Reasoning ability required to apply analytical problem-solving skills in order to determine how to perform required maintenance or repairs. Must be able to perform tasks guided by TBR and JSCC policy, regulations, and guidelines from the EPA, TOSHA, and state and local electrical codes.

Pay Rate: $34,061 - $40,873 Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.
