Mechanical Assist Specialist

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), located in Boston, MA currently has an opportunity for a Mechanical Assist Specialist to join a team of 17 full time Perfusionists and 3 Mechanical Assist Specialists. This position is a great opportunity for an individual interested in working with a dynamic surgical team and managing many types of mechanical circulatory support devices. The Mechanical Assist Specialist will work closely with the surgical and catheterization lab teams to provide care for patients requiring the following medical therapies:

• Intra-aortic balloon pump support
• Temporary and long-term ventricular assistance
• Autotransfusion

The Mechanical Assist Specialist will be part of the MGH Perfusion Team that has responsibility for several services and programs including:

• Adult cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) for a complex case mix including a high volume of aortic, adult congenital, minimally invasive valve, heart and lung transplant, and pulmonary thromboendarterectomy procedures
• Heart failure
• Liver transplantation
• Hyperthermic chemotherapy
• Circulatory support for donor heart, lung and liver using the organ care system
• Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)
• Translational and clinical research
• High fidelity CPB and ECMO simulation
• Perfusion student education - clinical site for three perfusion education programs

Qualifications
Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 3 years of work experience preferably in healthcare. High school diploma or equivalent required and associate's degree preferred.
