Basic Job Functions:
We are seeking a creative, forward-thinking, process-minded, effective communicator to join our team. The Mechanical Engineer will be tasked with supporting the Vulcraft Texas division by providing technical support for maintenance and operations, designing and implementing innovative solutions to enhance production operations, designing and troubleshooting mechanical components and systems, performing mechanical load ratings of various systems, designing and troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems, writing mechanical specifications for projects, creating and maintaining mechanical documentation, managing capital projects, and seeking out and implementing process improvement projects. This position requires occasional travel.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineeringfield
- Experience in modeling, assembly, and detailing with SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar3D CAD software
- Two years mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment that included mechanical engineering principles, materials,and mechanics
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience identifying deficiencies in mechanical processes and developing improvements
- Experience successfully leading full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement)
- Experience with machine design using electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components
- Advanced computer skills
- Fundamentals of Engineering Certification
