Location: Hybrid remote, can be near any of our offices.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Model Based Systems Engineer. As a senior member of an interdisciplinary team, you will lead the effort to mature the Systems Engineering Department MBSE competencies and will be responsible for leading a team that will design and implement a digital ship environment.

General Duties

Essential responsibilities include:

  • Identify and evaluate a complex network of disparate shipbuilding models and artifacts
  • Develop a concept of operations that will characterize the Digital Ship Environment.
  • Present actionable recommendations, complementary to existing engineering, quality and program standards.
  • Identify stakeholders in the Navy Program Offices, design community, and shipbuilding community
  • Identify and analyze 2D and 3D models and other design and builders' documents, artifacts, requirements, standards that will be included in the digital ship environment
  • Collaboratively develop business rules that guide the design of the digital environment
  • Facilitate discussion of the key decisions that either have been made or will be made and how those decisions inform the design and implementation of the digital environment.
  • Guide communication and coordination of the development of the digital ship environment,
  • Collaboratively develop a common taxonomy for the digital ship environment
  • Coordinate the development of technical reports and white papers
  • Conduct Trade Analyses for making engineering decisions
  • Manage risks
Required Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • An Active Secret Clearance is Preferred.
  • BS or Advanced Degree in Engineering or Related Discipline.
  • 8(+) Years of Model Based Systems Engineering Experience.
  • Project Management or Systems Engineering experience in surface ship systems development
  • Experience with US Navy ship designs.
  • Experience working in large team environments & interfacing with highly technical points of contact for component systems / subsystems
  • Must be a critical thinker
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong aptitude, work ethic, and ability to complete tasks on time
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and project unknowns/ambiguity
