The Multi-Faith Engagement Coordinator offers spiritual growth opportunities to students; promotes awareness and appreciation of religious diversity; assists in the exploration of ethical questions, issues and values, and provides ethical spiritual concern to members of the campus community. This position serves part-time, 20/week, 10 months/year).

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize and implement spiritual life programming that helps students, faculty and staff connect world views with liberal arts foundations; coordinate weekly inter-faith programming series; plan or assist with the planning of diverse faith celebrations/traditional faith holidays

    Recruit, select, train, supervise and mentor the Multi-faith Ambassadors (up to 6 student leaders), a key leadership development program for interfaith engagement; supervise, support and mentor these student leaders on their activities that support multi-faith engagement across the campus community

  • Advise, coordinate and support world-view student organizations, including groups with external advisors; meet monthly with student leaders to support their outreach efforts and campus visibility; meet regularly with non-IWU faith group advisors to ensure consistency with IWU values and policies

  • Participate in the ceremonial life of the university and provide community-level support during crisis; provide invocations, benedictions, Homecoming service and other events in support of campus spiritual life. If not available, will arrange for appropriate coverage; as campus crises occur, provide appropriate reflection.

  • Advise campus leadership on world view inclusion in the broad definition of diversity related to policy, practice and responsiveness; participate in appropriate campus committees where worldview diversity may be critical to the conversations; convene the Council on Religious Life to review campus climate, new religious RSOs and other campus policy needs.

Requirements:

  • Preference for Master's degree in Religion or related field; Bachelor's required

    Minimum of three year's relevant experience

    Knowledge of faith traditions and an understanding of interfaith principles.
