The Payment Services/Procurement Office Summer Temp Student position is responsible for the front desk coverage, incoming mail distribution, outgoing check distribution, and any other assistance as needed to the Payment Services team, as well as assisting in projects related to Procurement continuous improvement initiatives, reporting and post-award initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Greets visitors and answers any general questions at front desk.
  • Daily sorts mail for the Accounts Payable department and distributes to the appropriate AP processor.Researches returned checks for updated addresses.
  • Organizes check distribution including mailing, contacting payees for checks to be picked up, obtaining signatures as necessary, and handling special mailing situations such as certified, FedEx, registered, etc.
  • Maintains records for incentive reporting for any individuals receiving awards or prizes from Liberty University.
  • Reviews daily Wire and ACH posting registers for accuracy prior to filing.
  • Assist with collecting, organizing, and analyzing key performance indicator measures for Procurement sections.
  • Communicates to and trains internal and external stakeholders on process improvements and system changes.
  • Assists with codifying existing procedures in University Standard formats
  • Assists in documenting new policy related to University procurement process and procedures.
  • Helps with special assignments as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Customer Service experience
  • Pursuing Degree in business related field or equivalent Paralegal experience
  • Fluent in Spanish or American Sign Language

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Current student at Liberty University
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Strong oral and written communication and customer service skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to articulate and defend the unique Christian educational mission and vision of Liberty University and its subsidiaries to a wide variety of individuals and groups.
  • Individual must not be in default on any federal student or parent loan
  • Individual must not be convicted of, or pled nolo contendere or guilty to, a crime involving the acquisition, use, or expenditure of federal, state, or local government funds, -or- be administratively or judicially determined to have committed fraud or any other material violation of law involving federal, state, or local government funds (CFR 668.14(b)(18)(i))

  • Occasionally required to handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate.
