A member of the Mayo Clinic Network, Wellstar Health System is an 11-hospital system, recognized as the 5th most integrated health system in the United States, and one of the largest health systems in Georgia.
Wellstar is committed to investing in the communities we serve. We continue to develop innovative care models, focused on improving quality and access to healthcare. To this end, the Wellstar Medical Group is excited to announce an opportunity for an outpatient child and adolescent psychiatrist to support the needs of the
Wellstar Paulding Hospital markets in Hiram, Georgia.
Overview of ClinicThis is a full-time 40 hour per week position, allocated to the provision of outpatient psychiatric services in a new pediatric behavioral health clinic. The position entails a Monday through Friday schedule, with services offered both in-person and via the use of a telepsychiatry platform, as clinically appropriate.
Whereas the psychiatrist will work as part of the broader Behavioral Health Service Line community through the Wellstar Medical Group, (s)he will work day-to-day as a member of an inter-disciplinary pediatric behavioral health team, which will include pediatric neuropsychology, pediatric clinical psychology, child/adolescent therapists, and other pediatric psychiatrists. The intent is to develop a best practice pediatric behavioral health center of excellence that includes diagnostic testing, psychotherapy, and pharmacotherapy to support the needs of children and families in the community.
Overview of Roles/ResponsibilitiesOn a daily basis, the psychiatrist will work closely with members of the multi-disciplinary behavioral health team. Although (s)he will practice in the outpatient setting, (s)he will form relationships with the Wellstar Medical Staff at Wellstar Paulding Hospital, located equidistant to the new clinic location.
The ideal candidate is one who is team-oriented, possessing a commitment to collaboration, active listening skills, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and strong decision-making acumen. (S)He will lay the foundation for child and adolescent psychiatry conducting diagnostic interviews, consulting with parents and other treatment providers, and providing evidence-based pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. Most clinical work will occur in-person, but openness to the use of telepsychiatry to achieve the clinic's aims is needed. All clinical documentation will occur within Wellstar's electronic medical record (Epic). The ideal candidate for this role should be comfortable working with children and adolescents with various psychiatric conditions, including anxiety, depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, etc. In light of the multi-disciplinary nature of the clinic and higher complexity of some patients receiving neuropsychological and psychological evaluations, a willingness to allocate a percentage of time to treat higher-complexity patients is also needed.
Required Minimum Education: (1) completion of a medical degree (MD/DO), (2) completion of general ACGME psychiatry residency training program, (3) completion of a child & adolescent psychiatry fellowship, (4) license to practice psychiatry in the State of Georgia; and (5) ABPN board-certification (or board-eligibility) for both general and child/adolescent psychiatry
Application Process: Apply through . Please also forward a copy of CV and cover letter to provider recruiter, Beth Guerin at Beth.Guerin@wellstar.org.
