Duke University's Department of Dermatology has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Associate in Dr. Jennifer Zhang's lab with a primary affiliation with Dermatology and secondary affiliation with Pathology.

Occupational Summary

The Zhang Lab in the Department of Dermatology at Duke is seeking creative, highly motivated, postdoctoral research associates interested in working on immunological skin disorders and novel immunotherapies. This is an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant, diverse, and collaborative team of basic and translational investigators and work in a modern research facility.

Job duties:

  • Develop research hypothesis through literature review and timely discussions with the PI, and design experimental procedures to test the hypothesis.
  • Perform genetic mouse model studies that involve xenograft generation and therapeutic treatment, and subsequent gene expression analyses (e.g. immunohistology, flow cytometry, ELISA, RT-PCR, and Immunoblotting)
  • Perform in vitro cell growth and toxicity assays.
  • Use statistical methods (excel, GraphPad etc.) to analyze data and present the data in PowerPoint, PDF formats or other formats to other lab members in a weekly basis.
  • Keep electronic records of all experimental details and results, and prepare data for manuscript publication.
  • Provide technical training to new members including undergrad and graduate students

Preferred requirements:

  • PhD or MD/PhD in biological sciences (molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, cell biology, or a related field).
  • Strong research background in molecular biology and immunology
  • Prior experience in mouse models of immunological disease is advantageous.
  • Evidence of successful completion of a research project (publications).
  • Ability to work independently and multitask; to interpret, present, and discuss experimental data.
  • Teamwork spirit
