Description

Boulder Scientific Company (BSC) is headquartered in Mead, CO, and is a premier provider of organometallic compounds and other specialty chemicals used in a wide range of applications. BSC is a pioneer and leading manufacturer of metallocene catalysts and co-catalysts that are primarily used to produce metallocene polyethylene, polypropylene and elastomers, but also supplies products into Electronics, Pharmaceutical and Defense applications. BSC operates two sites in Northern Colorado, which include: a main production facility in Mead and a second facility in Longmont. BSC has continuously grown the sales of its products to existing and new customers and expects to continue on a high growth trajectory.

The Product Manager (PM) is responsible for profitable growth of existing products and assigned customers - including pricing and product line profitability. The PM is responsible for leading the new product development process from customer inquiry through R&D process development, scale-up and commercialization. The PM manages key customer relationships at multiple organizational levels including high-level interaction with customer R&D organizations; therefore, highly technical selling and project management skills are required. Duties of the position include supporting existing products, identifying new project opportunities, defining product specifications, setting project goals and timelines, aligning company resources with customer needs and priorities, and communicating project information both internally and externally.

Job Responsibilities

  • Foster client relationships to support and maintain current business
  • Collect and analyze market information concerning customer activities and changing needs
  • Maintain regular communication with customer technical and commercial teams
  • Develop short- and long-term sales goals/forecasts
  • Communicate customer requirements and expectations to all internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate across multiple cross-functional departments to ensure customer requirements are met
  • Facilitate on-site customer meetings and visits to customer sites
  • Manage activities directed at resolving customer complaints
  • Help create BSC's Business Development strategy with senior leadership
  • Lead/manage projects for new product development
  • Develop cost models for developmental and commercial BSC products
  • Develop pricing strategy/pricing for BSC products with input from cross-functional team
  • Train company personnel on commercial work procedures as well drive process improvements
  • Develop analysis of key competitors and target end markets
  • Participate in BSC strategic marketing and marketing communication efforts
  • Visit customers/attend trade shows and conferences on behalf of BSC
Qualifications

BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related technical field required; MS or PhD preferred; MBA a plus

Experience
  • Minimum of three years of commercial experience in the chemical industry
  • Experience working in an R&D environment
  • At least two years project management/experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Experience in Specialty or Fine Chemicals environment preferred; experience with complex multistep chemical synthesis based products a plus
  • Custom/Contract Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of catalysis applications a plus
  • Experience working with customers in target end markets from a material/chemical supply standpoint a plus (polyethylene/polyolefins, complex plastics composites, electronics, life sciences, etc.)
  • Experience in the use of computer software programs commonly found in sales and manufacturing environments, such as: MS Office, Outlook and ERP systems; familiarity with data analytics software such as Power BI is preferred
  • Ability to travel to Domestic and International locations > 25% of the time
  • Experience working in a regulated environment such as ISO or GMP is preferred
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be keyboarding for extended periods of time. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee will be occasionally visiting manufacturing areas, prep areas, and storage facilities that require the use of PPE.
