We create quality products in a safe work environment. Waterloo KPR produces fully cooked, ready-to-eat products, and operates 5 to 6 days a week.

This job posting is for 2nd shift, working a general schedule of 1:00 - 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and some Saturdays as needed. This position has a starting salary from $80,000, but can be higher based on experience, and is eligible for an annual incentive plan of up to 7%.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for all production operations at the facility, including managing all production schedules, product rotation, CCP verification schedules, and overseeing safety committee. Also includes responsibility to review team members in these roles and develop improve deficient areas
  • Trains and directs supervisors in all facets of production operations, including but not limited to: production paperwork, yields, time and attendance, discipline, motivation, turnover, absenteeism, safety, problem solving, etc.
  • Accountable for areas of performance, safety, quality, workers' compensation, turnover, team member morale, and other duties, as needed.
  • Conducts audits and inspections
  • Provides leadership and guidance to team members regarding employment-related matters
  • Ensures team members receive necessary job training and development, including cross-training to perform in other roles when needed
  • Monitors and approves work time and attendance
  • Communicates and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures, and communicates regularly and as needed on plant initiatives
  • Owns and demonstrates support for business decisions
  • Maintains a positive work environment and achieves retention/turnover goals
  • Addresses team member performance/conduct issues through coaching and the disciplinary process, as needed
  • Works with team members to identify and facilitate developmental opportunities for retention and career growth
  • Ensures self and team members are accountable to job performance and demonstrating Tyson's Code of Conduct expectations, including dignity and respect, and adherence to Tyson Food's 5Cs.
  • Provides continuous education on the importance of quality and safety
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Must be able to travel (day or overnight) to offsite meetings via different modes of transportation (e.g., airplane, car), generally 1-3 times annually

Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • At least two (2) years of experience with managing floor production required
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience in a production environment required
  • Understanding of basic HACCP principals and the ability to perform CCP monitoring verification. HACCP certification a plus or ability to become HACCP certified within 90 days of hire with Tyson (training provided by Tyson)
  • Strong computer skills to navigate systems, perform data entry, and run reports. Use of EIM Inventory Control and Safety Chain
  • Must have an essential understanding and control of the production process, accurate record keeping, and general line maintenance and staffing
  • Ability to read and communicate a production schedule and determine product specifications and information
  • Analytical skills - ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information
  • Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect team member safety
  • Ability to work professionally and respectfully with others while demonstrating positive interpersonal skills, and communicates effectively with all team members
  • Ability to identify, act with a sense of urgency, and resolve problems/inconsistencies effectively
  • Ability to work in an environment where extreme temperatures range seasonally from hot/warm to cold/freezing, where conditions may be damp and/or wet, and concrete floors may be slippery in some areas
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs/ladders to get to/from work areas, and work at elevated levels of various heights and in confined spaces, if needed
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. below waist, at waist level, and above shoulder level
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net / beard guard, steel-toed boots, and gloves
  • This role is onsite at Waterloo KPR Plant in Waterloo, IA
  • This role does not offer Sponsorship.
