Position Overview

The Project Accountant supports end to end project financial management as well as financial analysis and reporting for the plants located in California. Project responsibilities include contract management, billing, variance analysis, filings, reporting, SOX, and examining and improving processes. This position may also assist in development and review of site level budgets and forecasts. This position will work closely with the site and functional managers to ensure the timely and accurate processing of contract requirements, review of project status and KPIs, and variance reporting as well as the identification of actionable improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

To perform this job satisfactorily, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Ensure all contract and related documents are accurate and maintained in a physical and electronic form
  • Manage all financial and technical aspects of a project ensuring timeliness, consistency, and accuracy from project inception to close out; including but not limited to purchase orders, billing based on % to completion, labor reporting, budget(s), cash receipt, contract compliance, SOX, and government filings
  • Identifying opportunities to improve business processes, devise plans to implement these changes, and document all process
  • Maintain positive relationships with all internal and external business partners and subcontractors
  • Provide analytical, forecasting, and reporting to management
  • Prepare monthly reports, including key metrics, financial results, variance reporting, and SOX
  • Assist with annual and quarterly budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Assist with developing financial models and addressing ad hoc requests to provide actionable insights.
  • Commission analysis and recommendations
  • BOM Analysis
  • KPI review and reporting
  • Respond to and investigate internal and external audits
Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance related field
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar Financial or Accounting role
  • Direct experience in financial planning, analysis, projects and budgeting preferred
  • Experience with government contracts and projects a plus
  • Very proficient with Excel-based models or reporting system
  • Tableau report creation a plus
Work Requirements

  • Travel up to 10% may be required

Compensation

  • Target annual salary is $80,000.00 to $95,000.00
  • Yearly bonus eligible
