Project Engineer



What we’re looking for:

Detail-oriented, relationship-focused, critical-thinking Project Engineer to design crane construction for various projects across the country. This role requires the ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines. This is an entry-level full-time, exempt position that works from our Houston (Jacintoport Blvd), TX office location daily; on occasion, travel to job sites may be required.



What does this role do?

The Project Engineer creates drawings that show how the crane is to be built on the project site and how it will be used to complete the project in a safe and efficient manner. This role oversees designing, planning, and implementing crane construction, including tower cranes, hoists, and mobile crane lifts and serves as a liaison between the customer’s jobsite requirements and the crane set-up and lift operations to ensure all information is gathered to meet the needs of the customer.

You have:


* Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering, EIT certificate a plus
* Advanced 2D AutoCAD skills, and Bluebeam/Acrobat
* Moderate ability to read, understand, and interpret architectural drawings
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines
* Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including customers, and navigate conflict effectively
* Exceptional mathematical, statistical, and geometry skills
* Demonstrated critical thinking skills; you can evaluate data, know when to seek out more information, and make sound decisions
* Affinity for being organized


Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:


* Creating layout or engineered lift plan drawings for the various equipment Maxim offers customers to meet the dynamic needs of each customer and their unique jobsites that will be safe and efficient.
* Produce and review drawing sets for both planning and construction purposes.
* Provide step by step lift plans for the erection and dismantle of tower cranes. This includes determining size, placement and configuration of assist crane needed to assemble/dissemble tower crane.
* Calculate outrigger loads for mobile cranes and determine appropriate mat sizes.
* Determine ground bearing pressure results for mobile/crawler cranes.
* Coordinate communication between key stakeholders, including sales team, operations, and the customer.
* Provide sound technical support to Maxim Crane’s sales team by producing engineered lift plans, performing ground bearing pressure studies, and by providing lift planning guidance using technical expertise and industry knowledge.
* Performs other duties as assigned or required.



Special Requirements:


* May require day travel to job sites on occasion.
